What is the drive chip being sold in Wiis, today, in 2008, and what is needed to mod it?
Is it still D2C or have they released D2D now?

Still D2C and for modding either

D2CKEY (32 wires)
Argon (17 wires. 13+4 extra for region free)

There is another chip coming out called the d2pro which is 15 wires as well.

Actually, the new drives are the GC2-D1A and GC2-D1.

And they work fine with D2C compatible modchips.

The drives are still D2C. The GC2-D1A is the bigger chip across from the D2C. See picture

17. They released the diagram yesterday , it's 4 extra wires. I think it was meant to be 15 or 16 (can't remember) , but it's 17 now.
