Homebrew RELEASE CuteManga! - A Comic/Manga reader with cascade mode support.

CuteManga is a reader of (Manga / Comic / Webtoon).
This is the first public version.

This application supports:​

How to use it?
Just create a folder called "CuteManga" at the root of your SD, and place your folders with images inside. If the folder contains Spanish language characters, or another language other than English, delete them or the application cannot read the pages.

Important:

*since this application uses a lot of ram memory because the cascade mode preloads all the images. It is recommended to open this app with the R button on a game. NOT FROM THE ALBUM.
*It may take a while to load a comic, but that is because it preloads all the images in order to support the cascade mode.

Landscape mode only?
If you have it load the first few pages and then load the rest in the background on a separate thread, it would solve the load times while still allowing cascade mode. And if someone scrolls to a page that hasn't loaded yet, just have it display a blank image until it loads and put that image on the top of the list next to be loaded. This is how gallery apps on Android work (at least one of the most popular ones works this way, A+ Gallery) for displaying thumbnails, as well as some media players for displaying ID3 tags. If done correctly there should not be any lag/choppiness from the background loading.
To avoid threading issues, maybe a linked list would be good? That way, moving something to the top of the list won't confuse the code causing it to skip the newly moved entry once it finishes the current one.

Wondering that as well. I guess it allows seamless scrolling between pages but I'm still not exactly sure.

Thanks for the tips, there is still a lot to do. Cascade mode is the way of reading down where the end of one page is linked to the other. It is famous in manwha, a type of Korean comic.

Not yet, if you want to open a cbr, rename it to ".rar" and unzip it first. For now it only supports folders with images inside. For correct reading check that the images are listed in 3 digits. Example 001.jpg 002.jpg 003.jpg

I'm sorry, I'm a little confused, which folder can't have Latin letters. I'm just asking because it crashes for me. I did put the Cute Manga folder in the root of my SD Card and was I supposed to put the other folders in that folder? Or was I supposed to make another folder with the jpgs in that. I'm really sorry if this is confusing.

Update: I got it to read folders, when I open a folder it crashes. Basicly when I open the folder it crashes

Hello, thank you for your work. There is an error, whenever you open a new folder it will crash. I am running it on through holding r when opening a game but still. The problem lyes in opening folders within. For example, you have a folder named gintama where inside you have different folders with chapters (jpeg), it will crash if you click on gintama, however if the folders with the chapters are placed outside of gintama folder then you can open it. However this makes it messy, especially when you have diffegent manga. Some suggestion's I'd like to make: option to turn background to black instead of white background, a double page mode. Thank you again for your hard work, we appreciate it a lot

I made an account just to answer this because it was a pain for me. Try renaming the folder as simple as you can. Remove the (xxx-xxx). I was trying to read "Thor - Son of Asgard 001-012 (2004-2005) (where i got it)". and BAM crash....now IT MIGHT be because of the special characters OR because the name is just too long. So i just renamed it to "Thor Son of Asgard" (just the folder) and the files "Thor - Son of Asgard 001-000". And it worked so so root sd>CuteManga>(folder with jpegs) good luck

Hello, Mr. darkxex. First of all, I would like to offer you my greatest respect for your contribution. I have a question and would like to ask you. Is it possible to add a horizontal reading function? It may be relatively difficult to adapt the touch screen function, but I expect you to increase the zoom ratio, the comic can't be filled up seems to be a bigger problem.

Here are some personal feature suggestions that I think are perfect for switch, but I'm not a professional programmer. I hope you will take a look at.
1. Increase the zoom ratio range and add the function of horizontal reading
2. Increase the touch screen function, some buttons can display the page number of the corresponding screen so as to facilitate jumping
3. recognizing the format of comics, and whether some compressed package format comics can be considered for adaptation.
