legs cut

this shows it doesnt matter what serail number you have because the above poster had a wii with a higher serial number than this one and it was fine

So are you guys using dremel tools to cut and expose the connections? Or would that cause too much heat?

Would a nail file really work?

There's gotta be an optimal tool for this out there, and we need to distinctly identify it!

There are loads of posts about this. Pretty much everyone is using a dremel drill with a sand paper bit.

I heard you have to use the dremel at very slow speed.

luckily my pal wii with cardbox wii sports has d2b and no legs cut

bought it last week

Can anyone recommend which dremel to use? I want to get one, but not sure if on with say 30 pieces would be usable? Or paste a link to one you know works fine out of the box and has the necessary sand paper bits?

Thanks

Man what size tip you use for that?

Its a fine pencil tip. Which ever one that came with this: 15 w Soldering Iron from Radio Shack

I just tin the wires really well and flux the chip.

Just proof that it's skill, not the tools.

That installation looks beautiful (I think I saw you on WiiNewz with this post too, right?). Nice job. I'm expecting a Wii to come my way with cut legs next week, and I'm going to do it this way rather than grind down the chip.

that is pretty impressive. both the cut pins install and the guy doing a near perfect neil peart drum solo.

Just in case you didn't know, that's Mike Portnoy (of Dream Theater) in the vid. Someone on Youtube speculated that he was sort of making fun of Peart in this solo.

well, I'm not sure what the point would be of poking fun at mr. peart, until he's trying to make a statement that "hey! I can do this too." if that's the case, he's got to remember that neil's drum solo was something different and unique to anything out there at the time.

heck, anyone could go out and mimic say a group like the beatles or ac/dc without too much effort these days. sort of along the same lines of a bedroom coder creating a pong game in a few hours work using today's technology and tools and say "well, that wasn't too hard, I don't understand what all the fuss was about."

I should have phrased my comment differently as I wouldn't really consider mr. portnoy in the same way that I appreciate the pleasure that mr. peart's music and lyrics have given me over the past 30 years. there's something to be said about pouring your heart and soul into your work, not just mindlessly copying someone else's work.
