Yeah, for the time being, it's the best editor. It has its bugs, but it gets the job done. I definitely agree that it could use a more refined simulator and overall overhaul, but there hasn't been an update in quite a while. I'm not particularly hopeful, haha.

There's 2 Editors I know of: YATA and CustomThemeTools.
Both has their quirks.
CTT can't open a body.bin file if the path leading to it has spaces. When exporting an image, it saves the image as .bmp and I can't open it with photoshop for some odd reason(I'd have to edit with paint and save as a png before using PS)

YATA doesn't seem to have too many issues. It saves images as a png and can find files if the path has a space.
I do occasionally get an error when saving the theme. Using the save as function doesn't work either. Opening a body.bin file will also make a dec_body_LZ.bin file in the same folder for some reason.

There's 2 Editors I know of: YATA and CustomThemeTools.

Someone released an updated fork of YATA yesterday, YATA+. The preview function isn't any better at the moment, but it does fix some bugs that are in the original YATA (most notably close/bottom buttons switching and save-as working) and it loads up a template when you select file->new instead of just doing nothing

Wow! Thanks for the interest! Currently, I'm working on a Fire Emblem if / Fates theme. It's almost done, I just need to put the BCWAVs in their correct places, set up the colors and the BGM. (So expect questions on BGM conversion SOON![emoji1]). After that, maybe a Zelda theme... Once I've familiarized myself enough with theme making, I might start taking requests!

So, again, a theme making question from me. In the JPN Fire Emblem if themes, the scrolling sound is a very long BCWAV that is only played as long as I'm scrolling. How can I implement this in my own theme? Every time I want to use it, the 3DS just plays the BCWAV endlessly until I launch an app.

OK, I finally finished this really cute Dango theme from the anime Clannad. I was originally going to make an actual Clannad theme, but I recently bought the Kirby cover plate for my 3DS and was inspired by the cute little character. The top screen scrolls through bundles of Dango and the touch screen cycles through a cute animation of a Dango couple. This theme was actually a lot harder than it looks, since I had to edit and redraw some the top screen in order for it scroll seamlessly. The BGM is a lyrical version of the Clannad ED, Dango Daikazoku. Normally, I find lyrical versions to grow tiresome with endless looping, but I find it soothing in this case. The SFX are sampled from the Clannad visual novel and really fit well, I think!

Anyway!

This theme features:

• SFX (Clannad Visual Novel)
• Cycling Touch Screen (Dango Couple)
• Scrolling Top Screen (Dango Bundles)
• BGM (Clannad ED - Dango Daikazoku)

Haha, thanks! Seriously, though, I do think the theme tutorials need to be updated, since quite a bit has changed and there are more efficient tools now. Information is kind of scattered across the forum, so that makes finding information a chore. I'll see if I can contribute towards one myself someday.

I don't think there's a way, no. I guess the best option would be to design the border to be as seamless as possible and blend in with the rest of the theme.
