Others reading this is mostly what the save bus uses for various things.

Anyway I don't see why not. Offhand I am not sure what the ds serial stuff ( http://natrium42.xyz/blog/dserial-gps-project/ ) used underneath it all but it would not surprise me to hear it was that, similarly the pokemon games with the pokewalker on the DS sat the infrared communications on that behind a selection chip.

I am not sure how useful it will be as you have any number of network aware chips/dev boards these days and it would probably be easier to port something to that and stick a version of netcat on the 3ds. That said I would be interested in seeing such a thing.

Know anything about accessing it from ARM11 userland.

Are there any game switchers for the 3ds yet? I have a blaze 3 in 1 thing for the DS that I can use in these sort of situations. http://www.amazon.com/Blaze-NDS-1071-Selector-Black-nintendo-3ds/dp/B00G7MW7XI , that one is a bit expensive (I can pick them up in the UK for "get it out of my warehouse" prices) but it is what I am thinking about.
For what it is worth I think the 3ds and ds/dsi use the same pins for the saves/SPI (it is why the old DS save dumping tools will also do 3ds saves) so you can build up the basics on a DS and port it over to the 3ds as and when.

Didn't memorex make a game switcher for the 3ds?

Get yourself a set of callipers (calipers in US English) http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/industrial/256414011/ref=sr_bs_1
They are quite useful for measuring things like this, technically you could use a micrometer for the thickness as well but it will be a pain for doing track widths and separation.

I do not have a 3ds cart I can pull apart with me, though I imagine it is going to be pretty similar to DS ones in all the ways that matter.

I was planing on making it from a DS game case, I should get some calipers to be honest.
