I have a lot ideas, why made a lot of threads for them? Here's my thread where I will be throwing ideas at the Temp! Some good, some bad, all mine!
I normally avoid suggesting new rules, but seriously these kinds of threads are spreading like cancer and I report them every single time they popup. The staff removes one word/no word posts when made in threads, but never touch these kinds of threads.
I don't want to tell the staff how to do their job. But if we don't allow these kinds of posts in already made threads, then there's no reason to allow an entire thread to be made like this. I'd list reasons, but the same reasons they are removed in already made threads, should apply here.
If not remove them, add an actual text limit to the posts. Basically only allowing threads to be made if they meet a text limit. Even if something as short as 15 words. Just something to encourage people to actually add some content to their threads.

Did you mean no one word thread title/original thread posts?

One word posts are against the rules, since they usually are worthless and doesn't contribute. The same would go for threads, if it is worthless. However: replying with a one-word-post is usually shitposting or post count bumping, starting a thread usually have some other purpose. Keep reporting those threads if you find them, especially if they're "worthless".
If they don't get removed, there's usually a reason for that. Either we haven't had the time to check it out yet, or we think that the thread has some merit even though it lacks words.

Then this rule either needs to be enforced or going with my suggestion of adding a limit to the posts. I've reported every single one of these threads and they never seem to get locked.
Also I can't actually find that in the rules? Unless I am missing it. I even searched the words "one word" just to see if it was that simple.

You mean 15 characters? I mean there is already a text limit to the thread title, cause i sometime have to rewrite it to make sense. But i think i made a courtisey guide on how to create threads. Not that anyone cares but i mean i agree, the worst kinds of thread are "Insert question into title" then the post is like

Or something similar. Really? Least put effort into the post as well as title? Ask a basic 6 word question or whatever, then explain the problem and what you wanna know.

No, I mean 15 words. I am actually part of several sites that added word limits instead of character limits and they seem to have had a serious drop in low quality threads. But a character limit would work too. Whatever is easier to program, I am not against either of them.

Well i mean the search here has a limit of three text character limit minimum for searching, if your search is not long enough it won't do it. Pretty bad when you got names of stuff 3 letters long "HAX, Y MOD NUS WUP" I mean a character limit is lot better for simply having someone not say too much or too little. Like how some sites say password must be between 6-16 characters long.

    why
by one word threads you mean the ones that have the question in the title and just say "title" in the post itself right?

Seriously though, I am looking at the rules now and I am really only finding a suggestion of quality, not actually a strict rule
    https://gbatemp.net/help/terms
Unless I am just reading this wrong, which is equally possible. But it doesn't seem to show it as a strict ruling and more of a suggestion of quality.
I didn't say it was a perfect system. Really you are still going to get stupid posts, but at least it will cut down on them. If not at least encourage people to actually attempt to put some content in their threads.
Yes, or in some cases the threads is

Well i mean i know what you mean. I just have some (dare i say it ) "Trigger" issues when i see title threads asking the whole question. Then the post is like

    ^ THIS

    -BUMP-

    ANYONE

    HELP

Is even worst when a thread that has not been active for about a week or longer gets one of these for unnessary reasons. Sometimes i think people are just very lazy to do something and rather inconvience others for their own selfishness. If you need help, try asking seriously and not make it look so unprofessional or like a joke or attempt to troll or just upset people.

I personally can avoid responding to post like that but i seen lots of people just rage over them, while responding with the information requested, they also start insulting people, even innoncent ones, and that isn't polite or fair.

I only often reply to give the suggestion to add more content to future threads. Why? Because like I said, I never see them locked. Thus I try to help by suggesting the OP tries harder in future threads. Does it help? Apparently not because I keep seeing the same people doing it over and over again. Worst of all, I am seeing more of these kinds of threads popping up. I am always reporting them, but never seeing results.
I know the staff are busy people and obviously have lives as well, which is why I added the suggestion for a word/character limit. They added the signature code, so maybe consider adding this one as well?

On "." then most of the time I see that as an edit if a previous/following post has rendered what they had to say to be not worth it.

That said while I will usually try to say "see the following image/video" the option to straight up post them is one that I would say is worth being retained over any worries with nonsense posts. The fewer barriers to posting, the better.

How do you want us to word it then?

"Don't fucking post if you're not going to contribute, asshole!" Is that more of a rule? No it isn't.
It's not a suggestion, it's a rule. It literally says:
"When replying to a topic, don't; unless you have something meaningful to say or something that will contribute to the discussion."
This means "don't post if you're not contributing" and nothing else. It's a rule.

Creating threads without words in the OP is rare enough not to writing rules about it. A shitty thread gets no replies, and people learn. If you see such a thread, report it. If you see it, tell the OP that it's more useful if he or she writes what they want in the OP, so they learn.

    It could be more straightforward.
Or going with my other suggestion to add a limit to ensure something actually written.
You say it's rare, but I am finding more and more of these threads popping up, which is what promoted to me this thread in the first place. You also suggest reporting them, but I am always reporting them. Every single time these threads pop up, I report them.
I only made this thread because I am noticing a problem and trying to bring attention to this problem. I also made it give some suggestions to fixing this problem.

I hate double posting, but I came up with another idea. Thread screening for newbies. I know several sites that screen newbie's threads (sometimes posts) before they are allowed to be published. If they find the thread has been made before/recently, they redirect the person to that thread.
Considering most of threads I am seeing are from newbies, it could easily help cut down on some of the clutter. Not to mention, I am seeing way more newbies asking for ROM links. This could easily stop them before they can post that thread and prevent a banning.
Add the word limit to the idea and will see more quality posts being made.
I am noticing a lot of issues and I am just trying to give some suggestions that I've seen other sites use in the past.

That is OK when you have a few new members/posters joining and posting a day but at peak times here, even if you got all the staff onboard and doing nothing but that, is still going to be a lot of work; far easier to be a reactionary force. You can do some measure of automation like number of links but that is more for spam.
