Have you guys heard about Crowfall? It's an upcoming PvP MMORPG that is currently in Beta phase. The founders, J Todd Coleman and Gordon Walton, have amassed $38M in funding and have more than 400K registered users. The game features many playable races, like the centaurs, the stoneborns, the giants and the guineceans (a small rodent race). We don't know yet when the game will release but I'd bet in a few months.

In other words another generic useless pvp mmo, no thanks.
There are many other things to do rather than PvP. Each player has its own Eternal Kingdom where it can create its own map by stitching parcels of terrain together, build castles, towns, fortress, then invite other players to craft, trade, hunt animals and monsters, etc. Non-PvP roles in campaign also exist, with crafting equipment for guildies, gathering wood, ores, and other resources, hunting animals for crafting mats. At its core it's a PvP MMO but there are things to do beside that.

5 months later, the game is still in Closed Beta and possibly it will be on Steam soon (according to what the founder has said a long time ago). They've recently ditched the passive training, too many critics about it, so they're now going with a more "active" way of training, via items (disciplines and belts).

Here's an in-engine video showing the world of Crowfall :

I remember hearing about it years ago, it's a very intriguing concept but I'm not sure anything can revive the MMO genre now. Still looking forward to seeing how it turns out, assuming it ever enters early access.
IMO the MMO market is still well alive, with more than 15 millions players active in the 5 most popular MMORPGs (and there are dozens and dozens of MMORPGs being played).
