Gaming Crossplay with PS4 is blocked, right?

Sorry for my alarming stupidity which follows. I recently purchased Rocket League for my Switch, because I'm late for everything. When I went online to play, I was connected with players whose icons said PSN (whereas my icon was my user icon). Unless I'm incredibly thick-headed, that means I was playing with PS4 players. But wasn't that blocked by Sony? That's the whole issue with Fortnite and the Minecraft update. But then how was I playing with PS4 users. It doesn't make sense. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance

I booted the game and started an online match, and I realized it did not say “PSN” but “PSYNET”, meaning Psyonix Network, the developer’s own system. I’m am now very concerned for my health and well-being.

As stated before, yes, it does, but only with Xbox PC and Switch, only PCs can play with PS4s.

to be fair microsoft did the same when sony wanted cross platform in ps3/xbox360 days. It really is stupid tho, there really no reason to block it. they should just allow the players to block or allow it. I can see how some players may only want to play on same system to make things more fair due to differences in framerate/controller, etc

maybe sony will eventually give up and allow it. The people on playstation twitter has been replying with fortnite crossplay issues for like 2 week now on anything sony tweets

ps4 can play with pc only.
switch,xbox,pc can play with each other at will, everything but ps4.
