convert dvd to ipod touch

What software do people here use to convert dvd to ipod touch? I am looking for some free software. Everything I have tried is crap. Any suggestions?

I think iTunes converts all your videos files to .mp4

If you're here, surely you would know how to torrent. o_o
If not, just look for a nice portable video converter. It'll be the original software, will do the job, and it won't infect your system with adware like many of the 'free' video converters try to do (and no, I'm not including all those wonderful programs found on SourceForge).

SUPER seems to work well until about half way, then it crashes. @Turtle, I do know how to torrent, but I would rather convert what I already own.

i use freeze ipod converter, free easy to use program

i am on a mac and i use Handbrake. its free and easy. i like it because it not only has presets for ipods (which you can tweak to your liking), etc, but also allows for advanced configurations. ive never been upset with the quality. also its not just for ipod (mp4) it does other file formats too.

Handbrake used to be very good. o: I haven't used it in years!

If you got a Nvidia graphics card, pirate Badaboom. It uses your GPU to convert video ultra fast. With my 9800GT converting Xvid TV shows (22min) to PSP (mp4 format, same as ipod), each episode takes 1min:30sec to convert.
