Hacking Controllers' problems

I don't know why but Rebug 4.82.2 might have messed up all three of my controllers. I have two fake DualShock 3 (which are new) and a Thrustmaster that also works in the PS2 and I can't play a single game in perfect conditions in the PS3.

One of the fake DualShock 3 has problems even before starting gaming since as soon I turn on the PS3 the controller's left analog stick drifts to the right in the XMB.

Regarding the other fake DualShock 3, I have drift in the right analog stick drifts to the right but this only happens after I manually move the right analog stick to the right first, which is also weird.

I have to press the Start button in the Thrustmaster controller a little hard for it to work and the Square button is being automatically pressed, which makes things to be ordered in the XMB by category, and if I press the Square button, nothing happens.

These issues are weird because the controllers were working fine before installing Rebug so they started having problems after that.

EDIT: I just tested the Thrustmaster controller in the PS2 and it has the same Start and Square buttons problems so did Rebug mess it up for good so that I even have these problems in a console which is even from a different generation (I can't believe this is even possible)? Shouldn't I only have this problem on another PS3 at most?

EDIT 2: The Square button problem in the Thrustmaster went away for some hours and now it returned. Weird.

Since the beginning of this year my controllers are all screwed up. I have two fake DualShock 3 (both bought on the last Summer) and a wired Thrustmaster (which also works with the PS2) controllers. The Thrustmaster (bought some years ago) randomly presses the X button in the XMB (and I have to press the Start button a little hard when playing a game otherwise it won't work [I think I already had this problem before installing CFW for the first time] and after moving the left analog stick the character moves a lot more when comparing with the fake and I guess the genuine DualShock 3 and so it's hard to control it, although the controller might have been built this way) and when playing a game and one of the fake DualShock 3 has the character move to the right and both make the camera rotate. I had different controllers' problems in the recent past (it looks like they keep changing) but now I have these ones. I also have the Thrustmaster problems on the PS2 and the fake DualShock 3 ones regardless if I play with the cable (I even changed it and I still have the problems) or not. I tried a working DualShock 3 lent from a friend and I still had the problems. Plus, my friend didn't have the problems I'm having with my controllers in his PS3 after I borrowed him my controllers.

This started some time after installing CFW (although the controllers' problems were different back then) for the first time back in August and I even formatted the PS3 afterwards (and restaured the defaults setting, which AFAIK formatted the PS3 again) and installed OFW and I still had the problem. I'm on CFW again and I still have these problems. It's so frustrating since I can't play a game in normal conditions.

Sounds like the blue tooth in the console may be bad. Just swap it out and see if it helps.

That's what I was thinking but I don't know how to change it. But is it normal to also have problems when playing with the USB cable and not only wirelessly?

I have a similar issue but only with the one controller. As for wired VS wireless, I think wired is only for charging and that it still uses BT for playing games (not 100% about this) when plugged in to USB.

It's possible that the internals of the controller might be gummed up. Worth a look inside and a clean.

Swapping out a BT is easy. Only 5 screws and a ribbon cable hold it on in a fat. Not sure about a slim but I’d bet it’s even easier. There is some direct data transfer with the controllers to the USB though... that’s why it will have you plug a controller in when you first turn a PS3 on (or reformat the HDD). So it could be your controllers just took a crap on you.

If swapping out BT is too difficult (how do you know without trying) then you're going to be out of luck if that is the cause.

Yeah, sounds more and more like the BT went out. Should cost less than $10 on eBay.

That's the problem. I suppose it is since I never unscrewd things.

CECH 2004B. It's a PS3 Slim. I don't know if different models require different BT modules.

I bought an used Sixaxis and an used PS3 and I installed Evilnat in the latter. So far, the controller working well in the new PS3 but the other ones were too in the previous PS3 before starting to have problems some weeks/months after.

Weird, the Sixaxis now has left analog stick drift in the second PS3 but only when playing a specific game (which is weird) after mounting it with IRISMAN.

Now I'm having the right analog stick moving by itself problem on this used controller, the PS3 shut itself off without warning, the games are slow (maybe because they're being run from an external HDD), the PS3 froze when playing some games so I had to shut it off (without having to take its cable), on another occasion the PS3 froze when playing a game and I had to take its cable to shut it off and the PS3 stopped reading any Blu-Ray discs.

Is this a hacked console? What are the temp readings of your GPU and CPU? Could be a couple problems going on with the freezing. I’d open it, clean it, and replace the thermal paste. While you’re at it replace the BT with any 2000 - 2100 model.

Yes, it is. One of the temps (the CPU one, I think) is over 70°.

Do you think the BT module causes the controllers' problems? I also have them when playing without their USB cables or even when playing with non-wireless controllers. The controllers are fine until they start having problems some weeks or months after (even new ones). I guess if these problems have to do with the BT module and not with the controllers themselves I'll stop having them after replacing it.

I guess if these problems have to do with the BT module and not with the controllers themselves I'll stop having them after replacing it and so I won't need new controllers, right?

By the way, I can't use webMAN MOD or sMAN because they freeze my PS3. Do you think it's caused by the PS3's internal HDD?

I’m starting to wonder if you have a blown fuse on your motherboard. If you don’t know how to clean it, this isn’t something you can fix as it requires soldering. Since an unhacked console is only about $50 it’s probably easier for you to just get another and hack it correctly.

Have you heard of these controllers' issues?

EDIT: I bought an used DualShock 3 and I'm not having problems with this game and all the other ones in the new PS3 so I hope I don't have them, at least in the near future.
