What he's saying is that EVERY router comes with a default user and pass. If you don't change it then you have to google what that is. You usually can find it the manual or written on the bottom of the router itself
http://www.internode.on.net/support/guides/wireless_guides/avm_fritzbox_routers/

Search around the internet, i didn't know mine neither and I found them in a page that had a list of the most common passwords and users
the staff already changed it A LONG TIME AGO

i CAN'T, they DON'T give me it otherwise i would had did it a long time ago. also, i dont know how the heck use it. i am just gonna use tubehax
Use the nintendo dev dns. That blocks updates, and is unlikely to go down.

What?
What do you mean they can't?
What kind of company locks up the internet service for its clients?

Unless you're the kid of the family, tell them you want to block some porn sites or shit like that, then HAVE TO give you access to the router settings, no company is allowed to block the router for its users.

Still haven't heard from OP on whether or not he can access eshop on cold boot. I doubt that TubeHax failed.

Just because the little X is showing doesn't mean that it actually updated. It means that it tried to download an update but failed. Do you still have the TVii icon? If you did update fully, you'd have eShop access, but since you don't, it's probably not updated.
I understand that part. It updated because I was at 5.5.0 and now its at 5.5.1. Anyone have a good config for iptables? I am running tomato router fw and there is no blatant url or address blocking that I have found. I could be wrong. If I am, just call me out and show me where, please. Thanks!

e-shop does not work. Nor can I get game updates.

If that is the case then you are probably still on your previous version. Download this

Check you're PM's. I sent you a link to a self hosting package. Let us know which exploit worked for you. That will tell us exactly what firmware you are actually running.

This would be one of the first times that I've heard of TubeHax not blocking an update. Are you sure that you followed all the instructions correctly? You're not supposed to fill in both DNS addresses. Just the first.

Turn off autoupdate and all those other settings too.

Also, can you confirm that you have actually updated? Can you access the eshop on a cold boot without error?
E-shop does not work, nor game updates. DNS is filled in correctly. Auto-update is turned off. Thats why it had me worried. I've seen other posts like mine even though everyone says it hasnt happened. Thats why I asked if anyone had any suggestions for iptables in tomato. Would really appreciate it. Used to know how to setup iptables, but I haven't had the need in years so I lost the knowledge. (usd to be a network tech) Yes, I am an old guy :P

According to System settings, it is definitely 5.5.1. Also had an error message pop up while trying to get online showing system version which reflected 5.5.1.

tell me about the wifif card.. please explain
The wifi SD card can host the exploit wirelessly, it basically can host it's own web server. Just put the web hosting files on the SD and use it as an access point in your Wii U's internet settings.

But Im not sure how this works, with 5.5.1. I'm sure it'd work the same, someone would have to test this. It's the easy way out of self hosting instead of using a computer.

Will it disable my Wii u to update? I really dont wanna do the whole router crap
It'll keep you completely offline, which means your Wii U won't update. The exploit on the wifi SD card runs offline, and your Wii U connects to the SD card as a hotspot. This is an option for me on 5.3.2, not sure about 5.5.1 with this new exploit.

I'm curious - are you forced to use that router by your provider ?

Some of guys seem to be assuming that everyone has access to their router. Some people live in complexes with provided Internet for example a dorm or a roommate situation. Even if the console is their's to freely hax the Internet may not be completely under their control.

This could also be true for people still living with their parents or underage.

Well in this case you could use a proxy or pfsense to block the urls
