Im putting serious thought into getting an old Wii but I have a few questions.

1) Awhile ago a friend pulled out some version of Smash Bros Brawl that had characters like Ronald McDonald and various other crazy characters. I have no idea what that game was but I'd love to play it.

2) Is it possible to run NES, SNES and GBA on the Wii? I know the Wii can already play Gamecube so Im not worried about that.

3) Is there anything I need to be worried about with modding a Wii? I know using a Supercard DSTwo on the DS is relatively easy, for instance, until Nintendo updates the software then it becomes a pain in the neck. I figure since the Wii U is out Nintendo isnt so worried about updates so it might be safe to enjoy now.

4) Could it still play regular games though modded? I was seriously considering purchasing Monster Hunter Tri and I was wondering if I could play that online despite it being modded.

5) How do I find out where to go about modding? What I need and so on? I looked on here and see alot of help for after one mods but how do I get started? What all do I need to know before I do it?

1. ????

2. Yes, you can. I've mainly used SNES and Genesis emulators, but it's pretty good, imo.

3. They're not gonna update the Wii again.

4. Yes you can still play regular games. Dunno about online, I don't do that, but Wii online is shutting down soon anyway, I think.

5. The stickies and tutorials here are great places to find what you need to know.

1 . sounds like one of the miriad of smash bros mods .. theres lots of them . eg : http://projectmgame.com/en/

2. yes emulators of that ilk are very good .. eg : https://code.google.com/p/fceugc/downloads/list and https://code.google.com/p/snes9x-gx/downloads/list

3 . It is very unlikely that the wii will be updated anymore ans nintendo have discontinued many wii services since the WiiU has emerged , with certain mods the wii can block updates anyways : eg priiloader

4 . Yes you can still play all games backups or otherwise online.

5 . For someone like yourself ModMii is the better solution as it will walk you through your setup and create a custon guide , dependant on your preferences : http://modmii.zzl.org/ and the Modmii support forum : http://gbatemp.net/threads/modmii-for-windows-official-support-topic.207126/

1. Those are texture hacks for brawl characters. Ronald Mcdonald is a captain falcon texture. You can learn how to do it over on the KCMM forums. Maybe even here, im not sure.

For Snes, GBA, NES, RetroArch Wii is an excellent choice; unlike the GX variations of the emulators of the same consoles, these don't use frameskipping, which means, full framerate without stuttering or skipping, which is the problem they experience. Another tidbit, VBA Next, the GBA emulator for RetroArch Wii, runs many games at full speed now :D The GX emulators a reno longer being worked on sadly enough http://www.libretro.com/wp-content/...-content/releases/Wii/.cip4-download-info.csv
