add this line to the config.txt saved in your "usb-loader" folder
Code:
partition = FAT1
It says "Invalid partition: FAT1
Then I press A and it takes me to another screen where it says
"Warning:

Partition: FAT1 not found
Select a different partition or make a WBFS partition. (I formatted the whole drive to FAT32)
After that I have a list of options like press this button to do this is so on.

QUOTE(zuriel102 @ Jul 14 2010, 08:52 AM) I formatted my entire 750 GB HD to FAT32 and put a game on it with Wii backup manager.
Then I plugged in MY HD at port 0 and started Configurable USB loader but it said
" [+]:
Partitions WBFS1 not found! Select a different partition of create a WBFS partition.
Then it says press A to select a different partition. I do press A and it brings me to a different screen where I have to press A again to get to my game."
Is that supposed to happen?
If not what should I do?

Do you have either V19 of IOS249, or V4 or better of IOS222 installed? You need these to support FAT32 with CFG Loader.
I have V17 of IOS249 since that's what it recommended in the CompleteSoftModGuild
I have v5 of IOS222

I suspect you downloaded the 249 version of cfg loader.

2 solutions, either should work, but I recommend you do the first one

1)if you haven't done so already, install cIOS 202v5[57], 222v5, 223v4[37+38], 224v5[57], 249v19[57], 250v19[37] (these can all be grabbed in wad form by using NUSAD from my signature). But basically, cIOS249rev17 and below cannot be used with FAT32 or NTFS hard drives.

2)download the latest cfg loader but make sure u grab the 222 version this time. Alternatively, u can use the configurator for configurable to mod your config.txt file to have the 249 version load 249. But its faster to just use the 222 version to begin with if thats the IOS u want to have loaded.

I'd say you formatted the disk without making a partition on it first and so the loader can't find the partition...

@Xflak:
May i ask why you use 250v19[37]?

In the beginning i tried this IOS for MH3 (which it supposed to need), but it didn't work.
MH3 works with IOS223v4 just fine.

Therefor i installed 250v19[38], for more compatibillity with wad managers.
Just in case they don't work with IOS249rev19[57], which happens sometimes.

In my opinion this is the best choice for global functionallity:

IOS202[57]v5 for WiiMC
IOS249rev19, base 38 (if you use mostly DVD) or 57 (if you use mostly USB)
IOS222v4 or v5
IOS223v4
IOS224v5 for Uloader
IOS250[38] (backup ios for wad managers)

right, and don't forget to make it a PRIMARY partition.

Very stupid question, but if I had like half a terabyte as FAT, could I split that into two 250 GB partitions, one of this & the other for a external PS3 hardrive? Or would they conflict with each other?

In theory yes, but i don't know how the ps3 works.
If it uses simular system as the Wii it could conflict.

i.e. the Wii runs applications (boot.dol) on FAT32 which are placed in the folder apps.

If the ps3 works with the same type of applications...what partition does the console use first?
And what will happen if PS3 opens a boot.dol that is meant for the Wii, and vice versa?

I would not experiment with that at all .

Alltough it can probably be changed in a config or settings file somewhere.

lol what? i dont think he was wanting to run Wii PPC coded apps on the PS3, that would be stupid, it would be like trying to run Windows on a calculator

I thinks he was trying to say if he split his drive in 2 partitions which were both FAT32, 1 for Wii and the other for PS3, would the Wii use one partition and the PS3 use the other partition independently.

simple answer NO, the Wii would need the FAT32 partition set to "Primary","Active" and then be the 1st partition on the drive to be recognized properly by apps and loaders, that being said the PS3 would also only read compatible partitions that were set in the same way so it would also load the 1st partition in the table, this being the Wii's half of the drive, so you would then have both Wii and PS3 using the same partition. This would be true in one case but im not to sure it the PS3 reads multiple partition on a drive or not, if it does then both partitions would be show and readable by PS3, if not another solution would to use the whole drive setup for the Wii but then have a PS3 folder if its just being use fol movies and music

I have to add that although wii homebrew would need to be on the 1st fat partition, the wii games can be on the 2nd fat partition.

lol, i understood perfectly that he wanted 1 partition for the Wii and 1 for the PS3.

I know that the Wii needs a primary partition, just didn't know about PS3.
You can make 2x primary FAT32 partitions, no problem there.
But what partition will the console read first? so do not experiment.

edit:
Sorry for going off-topic
The Wii runs with folder apps, don't know about PS3 (i.e. the folder programs)

Then you could simply put all apps in 1 partition.
The Wii will not see the folder programs, and the PS3 will not see the folder apps.

And even if they both use the apps folder, it can work.
The Wii and PS3 will see all apps.
Adjust all meta.xml files so it reads clearly wich is for Wii, and which is for PS3.
Just watch out that you don't start a Wii application with the PS3, and vice versa.

Actually I was thinking of three partitions --- Two fat (one for Wii, PS3) the other WBFS for Wii games. But this thread isn't for the PS3.

Wii iso files also work on NTFS, that way you don't need a WBFS partition.

Or a FAT32 partition for that matter, if you use a SD Card on the Wii

after reading a post a while back re improving speed:

i changed from

however, since then, a popular game (ea sports active - more workouts) has stopped after the "warning screen // connect the nunchuck screen"

pretty sure i didnt update anything since the change-over

cfg usb loader loads ok, saying CIOS249...[frag]... (or something similar)

i tried redoing hermes v4 (222 as ios38 , and 223 as iso 38/37 merged - does that make sense)
when that didnt work i did a 202 from hermes v5.1, but left 222 & 223 as v4 of course

anyway, i have "sign check" results: these are partial - have more in the 2nd one below, let me know if you need more

About the speed, is there really any SD card that is faster than a HDD?
I don't think so, but please correct me if I'm wrong.
And which post was that?

About the game not working, I don't know, but you could try setting ios to 222 for that game, or using cfg-222.dol which will use ios222 by default. Not sure if it will help, just something to try...

I'll do #1 but first should I make a partition?
I just formatted the whole drive FAT32 without making any partitions.

For #2 how do i know if I have the 222 version?
I've added this to the config.txt in the USB-loader folder
Code:
ios = 222-mload

install_partitions = only_game

partition = FAT1

your right I didn't make a partition.
I thought you were only supposed to make a partition if you were going to format your HD into different things.
I formatted the whole drive to FAT32

right, and don't forget to make it a PRIMARY partition.

OK so make a primary partition.
Anything else to add, I heard there was like primary, active, and logical.

May i ask why you use 250v19[37]?
its an amazing cIOS for guitar hero type games

In the beginning i tried this IOS for MH3 (which it supposed to need), but it didn't work.
MH3 works with IOS223v4 just fine.
which is why I recommend that cIOS too

Therefor i installed 250v19[38], for more compatibillity with wad managers.
Just in case they don't work with IOS249rev19[57], which happens sometimes.
it only doesn't work with shitty outdated wad managers. Newer Wad Managers like YAWMM, MMM, Wad Manager v1.7 and even I/O Wad (french wad manager) support cIOS's with non38 bases

In my opinion this is the best choice for global functionallity:

IOS202[57]v5 for WiiMC I agree, and its also used by many emulators
IOS249rev19, base 38 (if you use mostly DVD) or 57 (if you use mostly USB) 57 also works fine for DVD in my (albeit limited) experience, but its AMAZINGLY FAST for usb-loading
IOS222v4 or v5 I agree, I never use this cIOS anyways, I have v5 installed
IOS223v4 dont forget to specify the base wad(s), I recommend IOS223v4[37+38]
IOS224v5 for Uloader again, don't forget to specify the base wad, I use base 57--note that this is the same as cIOS202[57]v5, but installed to slot 224
IOS250[38] (backup ios for wad managers) I disagree, I think base 37 is better... but if u don't have any guitar-hero-like games, then base 38 may be more useful... but there's not much 250base38 can do that 249base57 can't (with the exception of being used by old shitty wad managers)

Please note:

Not prartitioning a drive is not the same as using one big partition.
In the first case there is no partition table as in the later.

I dont know if wii apps support the former but I doubt it.
The later definetly works

Both methods are quite common on usb-sticks and sd-cards.
Usb-hdds are partitioned in most cases.

tldr: no part-tbl != 1 part

thanks for the input XFlak
seems like we have the same thoughts.

I use your NUS autodownloader all the time, that's where i got YAWMM from.
That was the wad manager that sometimes doesn't install from IOS249rev19[57] and the reason i install IOS250[38]

From now on i'll specify the base wads more clearly, but i've used the same ones.
wink.gif

Didn't try GH games with IOS250[37] yet, so i'll try it soon.
