Has ntfs write support been added in. i noticed its been implemented into gx in a build lately ?
No, mostly because it still seems rather buggy. It will be a few days at least before stability can be confirmed at an adequate level for Cfg.

install ios222...???
need more info than that
what version
what firmware
have u actually installed the ios
etc

with wbfs_file.exe i have a bit of a problem doing it through the cmd line
if i rip an iso with the (command -z) it from the iso on the computer to a folder on my comp that i use to back them up on sparsed then rip it to my wii drive with (command -z) it works fine
but if i do the same but rip with (commands -g -z) it goes to my folder that i use for backups but then if i want to rip it to the wii drive i have to rip it (commands -g -z) again if i dont put the -g command it i get a
Code:
malloc fst :no error

and then when loading it up through wii game manager 1.5.01 it receives an error with that file
so how to i rip only the game partition but not get that error

I can't seem to figure out how to play games in .iso format from a ntfs hdd.
All help is welcome, needed and very much appreciated

Can you add wiiware or gamecube games?
Ha, good one

.

So: No.*

(*Well, there's a .bat-File/Topic in the "Homebrew-Section", will will make an ISO out of a WiiWare/VC-Game, as far as I know. Dunno if it worksScratch that, only Forwarders...but forget about GC-Games. Probably never or it will take a loooooooooooooong time.)

On your HDD, make an NTFS partition. Games go on the drive like this:
/wbfs/GAMEID_GameTitle/GAMEID.ISO
(edit: thanks for correction oggzee, couldn't remember for sure without my drive in front of me)

So, on the root of the drive, there should be a folder called 'wbfs', and each ISO ends up in a subdirectoy named by GAMEID_GameTitle.
Wii Backup Manager will handle all of the file naming for you.

Make sure IOS 222 v4 is installed on your Wii.
Set your USB loader to use IOS 222, and choose your NTFS partition. For CFG loader, it may be easier to download the FAT version. It's for FAT and NTFS.

(I haven't kept up to date over the last few weeks, so maybe something has changed.)

Actually:
/wbfs/GAMEID_GameTitle/GAMEID.ISO
or:
/wbfs/GameTitle [GAMEID]/GAMEID.ISO
or:
/wbfs/GAMEID.ISO

yeah, all my .wbfs files run fine in /wbfs/GAMEID.wbfs

Hi!

I have some feature request for covers, would it be possible to load covers from:

/wbfs/GAMEID_GameTitle/GAMEID.png
/wbfs/GAMEID_GameTitle/GAMEID_3d.png
/wbfs/GAMEID_GameTitle/GAMEID_disc.png
/wbfs/GAMEID_GameTitle/GAMEID_full.png

Or even
/wbfs/GameTitle [GAMEID]/GAMEID.png
/wbfs/GameTitle [GAMEID]/GAMEID_3d.png
/wbfs/GameTitle [GAMEID]/GAMEID_disc.png
/wbfs/GameTitle [GAMEID]/GAMEID_full.png

So that we could have covers and .wbfs (or .iso) inside the same folder?

Is it planned?

Note: I'm not in a hurry, I'd rather like having translating bugs fixed (as talked here) but I wanted to share this thought.

hmmm sounds good. would be a nice feature. if the cover was'nt found in .../usbloader/covers/ then look in /wbfs/GameTitle [GAMEID]/

Thanks for the NTFS support! I made the switch from WBFS a couple weeks ago and everything went well... until recently.

Lately ive been having random freezes as the loader stopped reading from the hard drive. I would attribute this to the hard drive spinning down, but its a Toshiba 250GB and they are not supposed to have this problem. Also, it worked fine without a hitch on a WBFS partition just a few weeks ago.

If anyone knows what is causing this, I would like to know, otherwise I'll just reformat the hard drive and copy all my games back on... probably take a day or so to do but if it fixes the problem it would be worth it.

Edit: I'm attaching a video to show you guys exactly what I mean by random freezes and the hard drive stopping reading.

That's already been suggested and it was considered, but even though I like it at the moment I don't plain to do it, lack of time, and other features that have higher priority...

heh it really looks bad

I can't tell, maybe there is some problem with ntfs indeed, or maybe the drive is having problems...
I would suggest running a S.M.A.R.T. diagnostic (part of SpeedFan program, although I'm not sure if it can do it with external drive...)
Maybe as you said, try reformat and copy again and see how it goes...
Maybe also try with all filesystems - NTFS, FAT and WBFS and see if there's a difference...
