ISO support is cool but smaller games like mario on an ISO is a big waste of space... just my 2 cents
Not with sparse files.

Check out the "size on disk"..

sparse.jpg

I love WBM, but is there an option to scrub the excess space of an ISO to the same size as a converted *.wbfs file? Is that how you define "sparse"?

Ok, NTFS support interests me but I won't switch because it seems that in order for the the loader to be autobooted or just booted in general that the drive would still require a FAT32 partition so that HBC technically has a partition it can read the files off of.

However I am interested .iso game booting, but does anyone know how to make a sparse file for making wii games smaller?

Having problems with Jump Start Pet Rescue USA.
It will load, get into the game, but when I get to the screen that asks me to choose Player1, player2, player3 or credits and I choose any of the player options then choose either explore or story, the system re-starts.

Any ideas.

It's and NTSC game and I've tried Game default, system default and Force NTSC and nothing is different.

PS; That new feature is a nice option, but I thinks it's going to turn out to be user choice again. All the better, like someone else said, it just gives people more options

Thanks;
it is probably one of those multiple dol games. you can try opening it with wiiscrrubber and extracting the dols, and using the alt dol method.
As has been repeated over and over in multiple threads, none of the loaders these days require you to extract dols with wiiscrubber. They can load them directly from the game. FFS...

PS oggzee; you keep surprising us and making the product even better, too bad you can't do anything about Sacohen9665.

Thanks

Nice one Skizzo, it would have been nicer if you contributed and possibly gave me an answer to my problem with Jump Start Pet Rescue USA.
Of course it was a 'nice one'. It was yours after all. And I wasn't responding to your fucking problem post was I? I responded to the Johnny Come Lately who still hasn't heard about built-in alt-dol support in all current USB loaders. So yeah, I was contributing, so stuff it. I guess you think if I am to respond to your little quip I have to respond to your problem post as well?

Besides, someone with apparent knowledge of your problem had already responded...

p.s. Would I be correct in assuming you are Steve A. Cohen, born June 5, 1996? If so, that would explain quite a bit.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sparse_file

The ISO will still show as 4.37 gig or whatever in explorer, but the size used on disk will be the same as WBFS files or CISO.

To create/copy a sparse ISO, you'll need to use wbfs_file or WBM, since Windows explorer doesn't create sparse files. Like oggzee mentioned, it'll use the real 4.37 gig if you copy it using explorer.

Sorry for this rather newbie question. Can this (or any) USB loader play games from other regions? For example, my Wii is PAL,could I play NTSC games)

Cheers. Just looked at what the Wii is doing for the first time in well over a year, and after a day of playing, I've got it all up to date and looking swish

Bumping this dudes question cause it wasn't answered and I would like to know as well. Thanks!

v50X / 50a 50b or fat variants break the Triiforce forwarder iso that works with earlier versions - Any idea why?

This kills access from cfg usbloader to 60-odd wad games installed on nand emulator for me
cry.gif

All version Boot up and show all games. All games and forwarder ISOs seem to work except;

If Triiforce forwarder ISO is selected after pressing 'A' to run game

[+] Booting Wii game, please wait......

Switching to IOS222 for FAT support

IOS(222) mload....[FAT]....

ERROR: setting up fragmens. (halts until button is pressed)

Press any button to continue...

Once button is pressed:-

Exception (DSI) occurred

.....lots of numbers...

STACK DUMP

It doesn't matter if using 222/223 - same thing

Solved - Corrupt forwarder ISO!

Re-installed ISO, all's well - all versions

LOL.. you're right that's something I really overlooked. So the "size on disk" is an actual reflection of the space it really occupies on the HDD? When I extract a Wii game from a scene release in rar format, the actual space on disk taken up is still 4.37gb. So how do I use WBM to convert it again to a "sparsed" ISO?

Ok, I just tried copying the sparse ISO to another partition and it shows up as the actual 4gb+ size on disk. If I were to use WBM to "copy" it the size on disk is reflected even smaller from the original sparsed copy.. LOL

So I don't think it's such a good idea after all...

Yes. It does allow you to install and play import games.

Anyone got code dump with 50b?
I am using FAT32 and 50x and 50a works for me
Is there any way I can find where the problem is?
If you post the Stack Dump section from the DSI error, it will help oggzee find where the bug is.

Wiiscrubber allows you to make trimmed isos

Alright, but could CFG read a scrub .iso though? I mainly ask because I'd like to have one and only one central copy of all my wii games and that's on the usb hard drive for my wii. I don't want a copy on my hard drive and then a copy of all the games on my PC. Forgive me if this next line isn't allowed, but essentially I want a single copy of all my wii games that both an emulator and CFG could both read while taking up as little space as possible,

Either way though I thank you and everyone else for their help and the developers for their amazing efforts.

I need help please, I've been using the Hybrid Channel with CFG v44 dol with no problems till now, even after I updated to version v50b2, it was working fine but when I load up the channel just now, all I get is my created theme and nothing else at all, no games listed, nothing, when it loads up, I don't even see any version # in the right bottom corner, what do I do to solve my problem? thank you

Here is a new one (for me).

I just soft modded my friends Wii, I installed HBC, bootmii, then Trucha Bug, then 222, 223, 202, then 249 rev 15. I have CFG v50 FAT loading from the USB Hard drive just fine via HBC or via the forwarder Channel. And finally I installed Priiloader .30 and installed the CFG forwarder for Preloader.

Everything works fine, except for the CFG via PriiLoader. It DSI Errors with the stack trace if I have PriiLoader launch it.

Any thoughts from anyone, I am doing the same thing on my Wii and it works great. But I have installed many different versions of cIOS' over time and I'm not sure if I'm missing an IOS...

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jake

You probably have the new HBC (1.0.6) ? The combination of HBC 1.0.6 and Preloader 0.30/Priiloader will not autoboot CFG loader correctly.
I switched back to Preloader 0.29 to solve this (and back to HBC 1.0.3 as well).

Hmm...has anyone tried a trimmed game ISO in FAT32? It's obviously going to have to be less than 4 GB trimmed. Oggzee said some smaller homebrew forwarder ISOs might work, so it's something that would be interesting to test (I'd do it myself if I had a working computer at the moment).

I don't think I'd use it probably, but I have to say I'm pretty curious as to if it would actually work or not.

the homebrew channel still needs a fat partition in order to find programs correct? you cant just have an entire ntfs hard drive and have other homebrew load up, via HBC, correct?

I'm not real up on HBC, I jhave it installed, but \don't use it a whole lot, because all I do is use CFGUSB Loader to play games.
I use HBC to load FTPii to transfer stuff from the PC to the Wii.

Can you run HBC from the Fat partition on the USB drive or does it still need to be on an SD card?

Thanks'
yes you can stick the /apps on a usb fat32 and run the apps off that

Incredible. I don't need a SD card at all anymore.

Between, HBC running apps off the Fat partition and Wiiload I can run anything directly off my PC or from the USB drive.

I know it's a little thing, but it makes me happy

Now if you could play Virtual Console/Wiiware off a USB HDD, that would be awesome.

Also many thanks to oggzee for the latest update
