Hacking Configurable USB Loader

Very similar setting. But with higher chance to load game successfully and stably.

It's painful.
I've been testing cfg loader and usbloader gx recently, the latter doesn't stand the comparison in terms of stability and compatibility. Cfg loader is my reference for compatibility, if a game doesn't work with it no need to try with another one.

Please use "HDD" or "USB" to refer to the hard drive from now on, as it took me a while to realise you didn't mean standard and high definition...

In any case, you can do this if you have a FAT partition on your hard drive. Just copy everything (including the .dol) on the SD over to the HDD FAT partition and it should work.

I think that configurable usb loader is more stable and compatible than other usb loader.
The game "monster hunter 3" and "Super smash Bos. X" work well in configurable usb loader,
but usbloader gx sometimes crash.

that should already work. make sure you have all mp3s in the same folder (and no subfolders).

It doesn't support characters outside of the ASCII range as of yet. However, oggzee does have unicode fonts on the todo list, I believe.

By default, all .mp3 and .mod songs in sd:/usb-loader will play. You can choose a different directory using the "music" option.

), but it would be nice, to hear the banner sound of a game if you klick it.
that's the sound, you hear if you click the disc channel while a game is insert.

cLoader is great, it's awesome! - It's features, it's CONFIGURABILITY... - cLoader is SPECIAL(!).

I don't want to annoy you, but I won't allow you(!!) to stop working on this loader for now!

I can't! - There's much, that has to be done, I think.

Even if I tested Wiiflow 1.0, it's great, but cLoader will be my main usbloader for the whole wii time; except, if it won't get improved for this moment.

I hope you joked about it (and yeah, you did... look at your smiley XD)...

You're one of the most talented usbloader coders, and for me, one of the most important wii coders (that's really true. I love to see, how your usbloader is improving every few weeks),


Nice to see, that you would want to add the sound of the game selection in the disc channel to your loader.
That's really a little nice feature that impresses me.

I have a feature request :

When the wiitdb.zip is incorporated, would it be possible to hold a button for 5 seconds (Say the favourite button '2'), and have it bring up a new window, using the current theme (like the options page), but With all the information from the wiitdb.zip, including the game information/description, and perhaps even a screenshot in game from an online database (like how the covers work), or beeter still an embedded youtube link of the games trailer (if thats even possible, I dont know) .. that'd be awesome ..

But even the games description and screenshot would be great .. :>

Anyhow, keep up the great work, this is by far the best USBLoader out atm, I think, with GX coming in second. I hope you do use my suggestion, I believe that feature would make this loader the ultimate and only choice from then on .. :>

first i got the full channel on my wii and loaded a game from my sd card as a test. it worked so i wanted to get some covers, the problem was i have no wi-fi. i downloaded them from wiitdb, and unzipped the 3d pictures into usb:/usb-loader/covers/3d (on one of two fat32 partitions besides the wbfs one) without renaming them (do i have to?) and they didint work. so i thought i might as well try putting them on the sd, still no results. then i decided to get the forwarder and latest version, but with the file in SD:/apps/usbloader/boot.dol it didnt work at all... as in i got a black screen. when i tried with the usb hdd in the same place it told me it couldnt find the file, and that was it... i would very much like to have a working config. usb loader channel, please help!

OK, so here's what you need to do. Get the full v42 zip from the first post and take the contents of SDUSB-Loader_cfg42/inSDRoot and copy it to either the root directory of your SD card or the root directories of both your FAT partitions (the loader will likely only look at one, and it's hard to know which). Copy your image files into the usb-loader/covers/3d directory on the card or drive. That will ensure you have all the necessary files for forwarding properly.

If zektor's full channel isn't working for you, try installing Narolez' forwarder instead, which is just as good for what you are doing.

Edit: Also note that zektor's channel WILL NOT forward from the USB yet. So use the SD or Narolez' forwarder if you want to use the drive for the images etc. Also, sorry oggzee

1. I guess you have some strange partitioning done on your sd/usb. Can you describe your partition layout, that is, the order and type of the partitions (primary, logical)? It will only look at first fat partition on a device, so if you have 2 place the files on the first one. And using primary partitions might give you more luck with it, although logical should work too. You have 2 partitions on the SD card, how have you created them (which tools)?

2. Also, check the global options screen, it will display there which on which devices the fat partition is found and mounted and which directory is used for configuration.

3. try adding debug = 1 in usb-loader/config.txt it might help you understand what is going on

4. try making it work through HBC first. Do you have other applications in HBC that work fine?

edit: ah, been beaten again in replying, well, there still might be some good advice above.
