Computex computer / gadget show is running 4 - 8 June 2013.

A laptop running both Windows 8 and Android; a 6in (15.2cm) smartphone; and a hybrid mouse-touchpad are some of the devices to have been unveiled ahead of the start of Computex.

The tech show in Taipei, Taiwan runs from Tuesday to Saturday.

Other launches included the first PCs to feature Intel's new processor, codenamed Haswell.

The event comes a week after researchers suggested PC sales were declining faster than had been thought.

IDC predicted that shipments of personal computers - including both desktops and laptops - would fall by 7.8% over the course of 2013. The firm had previously forecast a 1.3% decline.

It added that it believed tablet shipments would grow by 58.7% over the same period, putting them on course to overtake PCs by 2015.

Time for more weird n wacky gizmos to flop.

Seems like 6in phablets and phablets in general are gaining more of a presence.

Like some people are saying, 4.3in+ will become small, 5in+ will be normal and ~6in will
be the main things called phablets.

Sweet design. The future for laptops and tablets?

Phablet? :wtf:
Jezus Christ...Look. I know it's going to be used to store and view porn. But c'mon...does it really HAS to be named after the activity?

(besides...even aside of the obvious..."tablone" has a much nicer ring to it, if you ask me)

Dual boot devices are a bad idea in the consumer market place. They have such a limited audience I can't even begin to....

Only developers would have a genuine use for one, and only hardcore geeks would covet one.

I have had a few people get on well with those cut down linux insta boot devices that would then turn to a full OS if you wanted them to.

I presume we're talking about those laptops which have instant media playback features? That's a slightly different situation... I presume Windows 8 and Android take about the same amount of time to boot. And if you have a genuine need to use both OS then you've gotta be better off having 2 devices, constantly switching between the two (unless you have a dual VM setup but then we're getting carried away) is likely to send you to the brink of insanity!

Windows 8 and Android dual boot on a slim tablet with a large amount of storage space is something I'd actually be rather interested in. Doesn't seem like that's on offer this time around though.
