Gaming computer dead, disk probably lost. Will I get sent another one?

Windows 7 expired to the point that i couldn't get to the login screen. I sent it to the shop and they said that they had to completely reboot it. I'm franticly looking for my disk and I'm probably not goint to find it. If I ask Compaq for another disk, having serial numbers, would another one get sent to me? If not, what do I do?

If you have the windows sticker with a CD key on it somewhere on your computer, then hopefully the shop has a copy of that windows version lying around and they can use that # for what was on there earlier.

You can try and get a replacement OS CD, can't hurt to ask.

Otherwise you can go the free route with linux and Ubuntu, or 'acquire' a copy of xp or vista and do it yourself, as the shop probably won't help you with an unauthorized copy of windows.
