Hacking Completely new to this! Where do I start?

I only recently discovered that hacking and homebrewing the 3DS is a thing recently, guess I'd just been looking in all the wrong places back in the day!

I'm on firmware version 11.6.0-39E. I haven't used my DS in several years, and knowing that the exploits I'm interested in don't work in 11.6 I'm wondering what my options are?

Ideally I'd like to have a play around with the homebrew launcher since that's the first thing I've really heard about? Eventually I'd like to play about with making my own homemade apps, if there's something else out there I'd be happy to hear about it!

Most hacking I've done in the past is pokegen with the browser exploit, so I'm sorry if I ask a lot of questions! I'm essentially as much of a noob as one could get with these things. Thank you!

From what I'm reading I need to install a CFW because my firmware version is too late on for homebrew launcher to work. For a beginner, what would you guys recommend? B9S or Luma?

B9S is an exploit chain (or just an exploit or whatever). Luma is CFW.
Just follow this and you'll be fine.

Okay, following it and my options are NTRboot and B9S hardmod. By flashcart do they mean a gateway-esque card (which I do not own), and hardmod means actually modifying your hardware right? I'd rather go down the software route, where should I go from here? Could I downgrade my system version to get to soundhax?

You should probably just update to 11.9, and follow the seedminer section. It is completely free, and is super simple to complete. If you need help, I have completed it before, so I am willing to help with any questions.
