Homebrew Compiling Issues

Ever since I installed devkitARM on my PC, whenever I try to compile 3ds homebrew, I keep getting the same errors every time no matter what I'm compiling, here are the errors:

make[1]: *** [main.o] Error 1
make: *** [build] Error 2

so what I want to know is, what am I doing wrong when compiling my homebrew?
