Gaming Coins and steps

So the 3DS keeps track of the footsteps you do. And there's also a coin counter. What are these good for and how do you get coins?

You get coins when you walk. Works pretty much the same as the pokéwalker.


They are used to unlock certain stuff in some games.

100 steps is a coin and you can get 10 coins a day.
So far, I've seen you can spend 2 coins to get pieces of a puzzle in the Mii Plaza, so far? I have 3/15 of the Kirby pieces! (The other way to get pieces is to walk past other 3DS systems with StreetPass)

The other thing is the AR Card games, after playing enough of the games eventually you'll unlock the shop, spending game coins gives you extra games to play, apparently alternative free modes or harder variations.

they can be used in games, sf4 sells you figurines i think.

I got 10 coins walking to the 3DS midnight launch, and then 10 coming back

Spent 10 so far on that Mii castle rpg thingy

Can't get anymore coins until tomorrow though
