Seriously though, I am extremely confused as to why these people waste their and other people's time on "software exploits". Are they scared of paying someone $60 to solder a modchip? Are they scared of the softmoddable V1 too? Or do they simply want to have their cake and eat it too?
Software exploits are the best thing to find in a console. 3DS, Wii, Playstations 2/3/P/V all have active homebrew scenes because of softmods. Not all people can afford a modchip. Softmods are usually free.

If you can afford the console but not a bit extra for a few games or a modchip then you should think twice about how you're spending your money and are probably better off sticking to hardware you already own.
The V1 exists. Is a paperclip too expensive?
You still have to factor in the cost of buying an Erista Switch.
