Homebrew Clarification Thread - What is going on?

It's a zip (or some kind of archive) with some metadata. It's still a zip at heart. I've looked at it and I don't consider it novel enough to not call it a zip, but that's just me splitting hairs.

The point isn't whether it's some god damn zip file. The POINT is with the added metadata it adds a safety layer. It simply tells the application about the file, the application then compares it to your console's info and then uses it (if it's safe).

Yes, I just don't find the heaps of praise and arguments are warranted. I've explained this, and I guarantee I know more about what's going on than you. It's just a bit grating to see "HE INVENTED A NEW FILE TYPE BY HIMSELF!" when its less than approximately 32 bits of header data.

No, he said it was NOT a zip file, with a SHA-1 layer, from what i know. soo..its not just a "zip file". i had a chat with him on twitter about it. its not a zip file.
