edit: whoops

As long as we aren't getting consistent DEADCAFEs I don't think there is much point for the devs to work on the downgrader app.
They first need to make the kernel hack (more) consistent.
Justpingo is taking care of that

So how close are we to downgrading now?
Not to rush you, it just seems preeetty close atm.
Closer than before @Steveice10 had kernel access but not much more. Getting arbitrary ARM11 kernel code execution is the first step towards writing code to install the CIAs to downgrade. What's more important now is getting the exploit as consistent as possible. Just wait, it'll come and asking may not slow things down, but it doesn't make it go faster either! Patience is a virtue.

But we need the exploit work only at downgrade and then its another history. Really matters if we need 2/3 tries to enter in the DG app?

Seems consistent to me.
Almost everyone here has DEADCAFE... right?
Yeah but it is far from working on the first try.
I myself got lucky a few times in a row and it seemed to me as being consistent, but a few tries later it didn't work so it was most probably luck :/.

I profusely apologise for asking this, but what version of the memchunkhax2 debugger are we using now? Some pages ago it was either release it now or boom, now "release it now" is DEADCAFE. A link would be nice.

It needs to be as close to, if not actually, 100% consistent as possible. You wouldn't want to support 100 posts per minute of "DEADCAFEHAX ISN'T WORKING WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?" would you?

I don't think it matters to us, but it matters to the devs and I don't think they'll release something that isn't really close to being consistent 100% of the time.

Everyone getting deadcafe isn't consistent.. Everyone getting it 100% of the time is consistent...
The only people who have failed haven't disclosed the hax method they were using to boot into the homebrew menu.
Without knowing this it seems likely the failure rate is due to browserhax or a less privileged entrypoint.

After a few attempts I tried the "force close an application" way and got it on both the 2DS and 3DSXL.
  • 3DSXL:
    • FW: 10.1
    • latest *hax (2.5) (homemenuhax 2.1 specifically)
    • masher's grid launcher
  • 2DS:
    • FW: 9.6
    • some older *hax (still homemenu hax, though)
    • masher's grid launcher.
Not flawless, but it worked.

Got it on my first try.
N3DS 10.3E, Themehax and Mashers' HBL. I first opened the Retroarch CATSFC core, closed it with its Quit option and launched Memchunkhax2.
I won't post a screenshot since it's exactly the same as the one posted a few pages ago.

Hmm weird.
With Ironhax it works and I get "DEADCAFE" after I selected FTP-Brony and force closed it.
With Menuhax in the same way I just get Overwrite complete

N3DS 10.3 EU
Ironhax, Menuhax
