Since I've been unable to find via search, I got a simple question.

Is there a difference in cISO and WBFS?

I've been converting ISO to cISO to save space, but will I need to convert to WBFS, or is the the same file with a different extension?

They are not the same.

.CISO and .WBFS are probably similar in terms of file size, since both scrub out the garbage data.

To my knowledge, there is no loader that can load a .CISO file directly from FAT or NTFS partition.

It's a tough call on which format is best..

.WBFS isn't supported by most managers, and FAT32 has the 4gig file-size limitation. And I don't see a reason to bother with .WBFS on NTFS.
.CISO files are really just a temporary/storage format. Not directly playable. And most managers don't support them.
.ISO on NTFS is good because the file system can condense files (sparse files), but no homebrew apps can write to NTFS for ripping/dumping.

I went with .ISO on NTFS for now.

The good news is that Wii Backup Manager supports all of these formats.

I store all my backup in WDF:
Fast and disk space friendly, no tricks with sparse files. But only 2 wbfs mangers support WDF. And my fast WWT is one of them.

WDF is not supported by any USB loaders yet.

Read this before, read it again and now that FAT32 and NTFS is here think it's time for your WDF to be supported.

@everyone, (especially the devs) read the content in the link above again!
