Hardware Choosing a new laptop.

It's that time for me to get a new laptop as this one is failing. Faint clicking from the Hard Drive, random BSoD's and whatnot. Hopefully it will last at least one month til I save up enough. Thanks for helping me out. I know my laptop is crap

Current Specs:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (Language: Japanese)
Processor: AMD-E350 Processor (2CPU's) ~1.6GHz
RAM: 4GB
Display: AMD Radeon HD 6310 Graphics

What I want is something a bit more powerful than my current specs. NVIDIA and Intel Core. Price range: $500 - $1000

Well the BSoDs might be software and not hardware... mind going into C:\Windows\Minidump and tossing the latest few files up on a file host for us to look into?

The Lenovo y500 or the discounted y410p should be good.

The MSI GE60 has more ram and a better gpu than the Lenovo y500 and it's $60 cheaper to boot. That said the ASUS F75VD-NS51 is pretty equivalent to y500 with a slightly smaller hd and a tad less impressive gpu at about $350 less. Your best bet is to use sites like newegg and tiger direct and compare specs and reviews. Try to stay away from Dell, Acer (except the timelinex models) and by far don't even glance at HP.

You mean they were second to none...before they started using the chiclet keyboards like all the other sheep manufacturers. Not saying MSI or Asus are any better from that standpoint but I no longer consider Lenovo's keyboards to be of any importance when purchasing.

Odd. My cousin has the y570 and its keyboard felt better than average. Must be the newer models.
