Someone in the thread [Tutorial] Editing the HomeMenu did a Polish translation of the HOME Menu, so it's definitely possible.

I can't find this, the closest thing I can find is 0004009B00010402. Are they the same? The only difference I can tell is one "0".

It's a very manual process, and apparently not easily undone.

chinese hackers made a tool a while ago so that chinese text would be better supported in some games, it temporarily injects the system font. the fonts are stored on the sd card so quite easily you could test stuff out without worrying or wasting too much time...
it's cool that guy on reddit made it permanent, but when i pointed out it's not new... i got some downvotes (of course no comments replying to me!)
i played around a little and yes it works, the latest version of it is 1.1 from august i think, i'm not sure when 1.0 came out though

Also, when I made that post (And I still haven't seen anyone manage to do it) nobody had gotten base font restoring working from NUS/an original font CIA
