Hardware changing old WiiU flash drive into new console?

Hi everybody,

unfortunately my current WiiU has updated to firmware 5.5.1, I have managed to get a 2nd console with 4.2.0 pre installed, question is if its possible to change the flash-drive from my old 5.5.1 into the new 4.2.0 (updated to 5.3.2 through Splatoon) console. Main reason would be my save games.

Is it possible or does the WiiU store firmware on the flash-drive as well?

No, the usb flash dirves/HDDs are encrypted with the per-console key so they only work on that console
