Hacking Chance of modchip causing online problems later?

I've been worrying about this since I started thinking about getting a mod chip. Does anyone think there's a chance that having these drive chips installed will cause problems with trying to get online in the future?

I would hate to lose online play, Virtual Console, WiiWare, or any of the other cool stuff being offered.
