Capcom has just announced that they will be selling RE7 on Switch through cloud streaming. Is this the beginning of the end for backup? It's the best method to defeat piracy.
Bad choice if they want to sell to everyone that owns a switch. I know many people that have a switch, yet don't have a fast internet, and that's why they buy carts.Capcom has just announced that they will be selling RE7 on Switch through cloud streaming. Yeah, this streaming games thing is probably not gonna go very far UNLESS magically in the next years a magical beast from another universe does a magic spell and suddenly everyone has the fastest wifi ever. Not gonna happen. Not even that, I buy Switch games specifically for traveling in most cases.
If I am unable to play them on-the-go, the game is useless to me.
I am quite certain there are large number of players who need their games to be offline compatible.

The switch is meant to be used in and outdoors. In my case, I use my switch to play games only when i m outside.Capcom has just announced that they will be selling RE7 on Switch through cloud streaming. Is this the beginning of the end for backup? It's the best method to defeat piracy.![]()
Even in the future, it's gonna be impossible to have reliable game streaming everywhere in the world. And while you, im america, may live somewhere where extremely fast internet is a thing everywhere, in other countries it is not. Almost every single one of my friends owns cartdridges because they have slow internet (1 megabyte per second, more or less), with me being an exception where i live since i have 5 megabyte per seconds and have them downloaded. Now, if you live in a big city it may seem acceptable. (in Milan internet can be pretty fast for example). but if you don't live in a big city, then a thing such as streaming games is gonna be impossible. Even in the future, when internet will be faster. You know what else will have bigger numbers? Games size. A game that is 10 GB now, where i have 5 megabytes per second now, might be 20 gb when i finally get 10 megabyte per second.I have no doubt that game streaming will be the format of the future when internet speed are getting faster. No one can owned the games anymore, it's all rented out just like music on Spotify or videos on Netflix, etc.
To be fair, i tried out psnow for 7 days on my pc and everybody was talking about latency and i did not notice that much latency actually. So if ur connection is decent enough and you have most ports open that need to be open i don't see that being a major issue. If ur playing competitive then i do see that being a bit of a problem but when i was playing Killzone through psnow everything seemed to be fluent and i did not got to experience the latency everybody is talking about. Still is a bad service tho 15 euro a month while it should be around the 10 markNot to mention latency. Even if you have a fast internet connection, a tiny bit of latency is unacceptable in Fighting or fps games.
