TBH I`m still mostly looking forward to the upcoming 3rd Strike: OE. I always thought SFIII is overall the best SF game. So really I don`t think they need to make a whole new SF game til 2013...

I also found it very good how they handled the release of SSFIV:AE (wow, what a name!), since it good a disc- and dlc-release, so they weren`t really forcing the people to buy the game all over again if they don`t choose to! I think they should have done the same thing with UMvsC3, since the whole Fukushima-argument is bullshit and they are really kidding themself if they think anyone buys that...
On the other hand, all the new characters were meant as DLC characters.
$5 per character (based on Jill and Shuma) is $60 total for 12 characters.

Instead you're paying $40 total for a new disc, every single character (including Jill/Shuma if you didn't buy them I believe.), the rebalance (which is more than number tweaking, characters got new moves and such), and added features/fixes like spectator mode.
Ends up being cheaper this way.
Even cheaper if you sell off/trade in your copy of MvC3 while the value is still reasonable and use that money for UMvC3.

Apparently on the stream it was said that they don't but will transfer if you already have them. Also it's cheaper if you intend on buying all 12 characters which most people wouldn't, they would probably buy the strongest.
A balance patch is not dlc and should be free. Spectator mode should have been in since the beginning.
My problem is that my copy is now inferior. It will most likely never receive the balance patch it needs. I am pretty much required to buy an 80% similar copy of the game to update.

I agree that a balance patch should be free, but the characters are getting completely new moves on top of the rebalancing so I count that as a new feature.
If you play the game competitively at all you would have bought all 12 characters. There's nothing worse than losing to a character just because you had no idea what they were capable of.
Heck, it happens even with characters in the game. Always hilarious to see someone lose to Dan because they have never played with or against Dan before.

For their target market, having all 12 new characters at once is important as it standardizes the game and ensures everyone is on the same page going forward competitive-wise.

Violent Ken and Charlie please.

It's better as an update than a new game... I personally think SSFIV has a lot more life in it to go. And with the update coming, it should get an extended lifespan.

How 'bout they make SSF VS DOA or SSF VS Bloody Roar?

Also I think 3DS should get the free update.

First off, none of those franchises are as popular as Tekken or as cool as Marvel.

Second off, Arcade Edition is paid DLC, they're not gonna give it for free to anyone.

what happens to those with *cough* *cough* offline pirated version ?

Do we still get the update

.. seriously ONCE capcom makes it clear that they wont sell another new SFIV i will then go and buy the latest one. Although most probably capcom seem to have made there mind up here so it seems.
