2012 Will Get a New Super Street Fighter IV Version

Street Fighter IV was released in 2010. This year, in 2011, Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition was released. What about next year?

2012 is getting Super Street Fighter IV. At the EVO fighting game championship, Capcom revealed that it was working on Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition Ver. 2012.

Details about this updated version are forthcoming. Though, last December, Capcom's Seth Killian said that Arcade Edition will be the last version of Street Fighter IV. Guess it will get a 2012 version.

We should know more in the next two months, as Famitsu reports that certain gamers in Japan will get a chance to try out the changes by summer's end.

The official Japanese Street Fighter website (via Andriasang) is home to the image above and says more information will be coming at a later time. Hopefully that's sometime soon, as avid fighting game fans will what to know what sort of adjustments they'll need to make to remain competitive once Ver. 2012 is out.

I actually wasn't about to. You only assumed that I was going to because Capcom was involved. Also that is why I added a question mark beside it. I didnt know all the details, I just went by what I saw on there and their source.

Actually that was just a general message to people who will comment in the future, not you. Anything that's within six degrees of Capcom lately seems to be some big MML3 cry-fest and people would surely begin crying if they thought ver. 2012 was a paid update.

Where in the very short article does it say free? I see the words update but the word free is no where near it. Unless your taking the word of some random comment a few comments down? But he doesn't post proof either.

Ok... my bad. Its just so damn hard to distance myself from the other MM fans that are gonna cry when Capcom is going to announce a move that isn't MM related. You can only help them move on so much...

Oh well. I didn't even know there was a Street Fighter 3 until I watched the EVO stream this past weekend...

I thought Alpha was considered 3! lol (Don't shoot me.)

Well, that's a bit of a stretch as Arcade Edition is DLC. Expecting them to fork it out for free is expecting too much.

Any edition of SSFIV AE (including copes of SSFIV that downloaded AE as DLC) should be able to update to the 2012 version for free. Odds are even regular copies of SSFIV will get the update so they can play against regular AE users with all the balancing stuff in there.

TBH I`m still mostly looking forward to the upcoming 3rd Strike: OE. I always thought SFIII is overall the best SF game. So really I don`t think they need to make a whole new SF game til 2013...

I also found it very good how they handled the release of SSFIV:AE (wow, what a name!), since it good a disc- and dlc-release, so they weren`t really forcing the people to buy the game all over again if they don`t choose to! I think they should have done the same thing with UMvsC3, since the whole Fukushima-argument is bullshit and they are really kidding themself if they think anyone buys that...
