I've posted here a while ago to fix an issue with my 3DS.

But it was never fully resolved, so I wanted to create an entirely new thread since I didn't want to bump my old thread, and I have a new issue.

Here's the old thread

There is a flashing blue light coming from the power indicator of my 3DS. It flashes once and then it fades away and my console doesn't turn on with the SD card. I tried reinserting the SD card multiple times and the 3DS cannot power on with the SD card, but it can power on without the SD card. I've tried the battery trick as well, but the 3DS still cannot power on with my SD card.

Godmode9, luma config, and the HOME menu works fine without the SD card, but again when the SD card is in, I cannot run any of those programs.

Is the boot.firm on the root of your sd card? Maybe is this your problem. Is the card correctly formatted? And for the case you can power it on, you should copy the boot.firm into the ctrnand. Means, you can power that thing on without an inserted sd card. Useful, if your card is dying.

The OP has done this already read the last paragraph of their post again.

@Usagyuuun, I've had a similar failure as the one you're experiencing.

The New 3DS XL I bought brand new from Target store came with a Lexar 4 GB microSD card. After 2 years of using that card mostly for softbrick research purposes, it finally gave up the ghost. Despite reformatting that Lexar in the correct [ FAT32 format | 32 KB cluster size | MBR disk | Primary partition ] settings and tested its hardware condition in H2testw with no problems (Windows 8.1) & F3 (Manjaro Linux), my n3DSXL and Samsung Galaxy android phone refuses to recognize it.

The card had all the correct files put in place, but whenever that Lexar was inserted, the n3DSXL would always fail to boot with the blue LED blinking on once and then turning off. This also happens on my niece's n3DS, too. My HP laptop was the only device that was able to read and write to that microSD card.

I don't understand the reason why that card still works and checks out fine on a computer but fails to work on everything else.

My only advice is try a different microSD card or get another one. Depending on the capacity or card brand you're looking for, check my signature for several suggestions: Amazon, B&H Photo Video, or Walmart.

Sorry for the bump and late reply!

I just tried moving the files onto a different SD card and it has the same issue where the blue power light blinks once, and then the console does not power on. This SD card is working properly as I use it for my other 3DS.

At this point, I'm not sure what my next option is.. I'm assuming it's not a SD card issue, but rather something wrong with my files? I'm not sure which ones though.

You might be running on boot9strap v1.0 where it doesn't launch newer versions of Luma3DS.

Try replacing the sdmc:/boot.firm with a renamed SafeB9SInstaller like this and adding sdmc:/arm9loaderhax.bin with the older Luma3DS v7.0.5. Depending which one boots up, update the custom firmware setup as needed.

I can't seem to find any of the folders that you mentioned.

Here is how my SD card looks:

Try those steps in that post.

Replace the boot.firm file on the SD card with a renamed copy of the SafeB9SInstaller FIRM payload and add a copy of Luma3DS v7.0.5 (arm9loaderhax.bin).

If the 3DS system boots to either SafeB9SInstaller v0.0.7 or Luma3DS v7.0.5 configuration when holding the (SELECT) button, you will need to either do Updating B9S or A9LH to B9S when upgrading the custom firmware.

If the 3DS still blinks the blue LED on and off, then that means the SD card slot reader is worn out and needs to be replaced.

EDIT - Underlined and bolded words are hyperlinks to the files download pages.

Oh my god. I think the last time I follow your instructions, I completed "Section I - Prep Work" from Updating B9S. I'm not exactly sure why I didn't continue to follow the rest of the steps. After installing B9S, and replacing the boot.firm from the Luma3DS.zip, my 3DS finally works again.

Thank you so much for your help!!! I'm really grateful that you stuck with me till the end!
