Hacking cant run anything using HBC

so i borrowed a friends wii, HBC is installed, firmware is 3.3E.
i cant run any application from the HBC, it says something like "no valid wii application" ("dies ist keine gültige wii anwendung").
whats wrong and how do i fix it?

convert them to .dol files
