Hello... I'm having difficulty as I cannot load the Homebrew Channel while holding A. This means I can't move forward in this process, and I can't undo what I've done.

I already loaded Haxchi on a 5.5.1 system and it worked great, no issue. My friend just brought over a 5.5.2 system and I tried to set it up, following the instructions on wiiu.guide for 5.5.2. I thought that I followed them to a T, but evidently not.

I'm at the point where I am supposed to run Haxchi twice in order to launch the Homebrew Channel (second time holding A). However, I just get back to the Wii homescreen every time. I also tried holding HOME for fun.

Some other information:

  • The icon, unlike on my first Wii U, is not the Haxchi Icon, but is the exclamation mark that says "Don't Touch" instead of HAXCHI.

  • When I run HAXCHI, it says "CBHC v 1.6 by FIX 94 (DS Title 10179B00) Autobooting...

  • The audio sounds distorted (static) while loading Haxchi

  • Regular games still work, so it is not bricked
My first thought was to undo what I did, but in the guide it says that I need to run the Homebrew Channel in order to uninstall... which I can't run!

Any advice appreciated as it seems I can't go forward, and I can't go back.

Thanks.

That's the icon for CBHC (ColdBoot Homebrew Channel). It's the coldboot method of loading up haxchi. If you turn the system off and back on again, does it say "CBHC v 1.6 by FIX 94 (DS Title 10179B00) Autobooting..." on a black screen? If so then it's got CBHC on there. To load the homebrew channel, you can either install the channel or hold down a button while CBHC is loading and it'll load homebrew instead. https://gbatemp.net/threads/cbhc-v1-6-coldboot-haxchi-cfw.452615/

haha... exactly what I was trying to prevent. I hadn't seen this friend in a while so we were chatting and having a few beer while doing this and I said "sorry if I'm not really into the convo, I really need to pay attention to not mess this up." I meant to skip the "more risky" cold boot part, but it looks like I totally just proceeded forward through the pages (while still trying to keep up with the warnings). You kind stranger have definitely helped relieve some stress, given my slight stupidity. Have a wonderful evening!

Now that I've seen your documents, I most certainly will. The wiiu.guide almost seemed to present it as a step by step process (although there was a sentence in there that said to skip the CBHC if you didn't want it). Was odd to go to that page in order if it was optional!
Thanks for all your work GBAtemp gurus!
