It was a Microsoft Excel file. Oh well, I was able to just copy and paste the results. It's in spoiler tags in the previous post ^^^

Download the update42u.zip and install all the wad files with MMM... Then try again... It probably won't work, but you need some of the ios files in that pack anyways...

up42u.zip, sorry... just an fyi, the mediafire links don't have wait times

Ok, I'm downloading it now. Can you explain to me what to do with these files? I put them on the SD, correct? Do they overwrite any files I already have on it? Where do I go on MMM to install these?

Update to 4.2
Run Multi-Mod Manager from the Homebrew Channel.
*Really important stuff here! Do not skip or alter steps in any way!*
While on the main menu, press right to go to WAD manager then press 1.
You should see IOS70-64-v6687.wad and System Menu-NUS-v48x.wad (NTSC-J = 480; NTSC = 481; PAL = 482).
Press A to install. Then press any button when finished.
Now go down to Other and press A. Then press 1.
It should say Selected 23 for installation.. press A to install.
*End.*
You can then erase everything from the up42.zip & setup everything from the 42mod.zip
Advance to the Modify 4.2 section to reinstall the Homebrew Channel so it can run under the correct IOS.

Let me know if ANY fail.

-Erik

So you want me to install version4.2 over version4.2? Is that safe? Or should I skip that part.

It really can't be that hard to install the Trucha Bug can it?

Follow this guide segment. It will install the Trucha Bug and remove Stub IOSs using DOP-Mii. You will still need to install cIOS which is used by most backup loaders. Refer back to your guide. I don't understand all this MMM crap, it just makes it so complicated.

If you use my guide it should do everything for you and only prompt you to ask where get the IOS from (Over Wifi or Locally on SD card) and whether you are sure you want to install them. If you select Wifi and/or yes for every prompt it will do everything automatically. So incredibly simple.

The reason I was having him do this, is because it sounds like something else is wrong with his wii... I was going to have him use dop-mii next... Also, using dop-mii won't fix the problem he is having with his wii not seeing the file...

-Erik

Eh, I think I'll use dop-mii now. Why go through all the trouble of reinstalling 4.2 when I can just click "wifi" over and over again and have everything done for me?

I mean, I already have HBC installed. I can go anywhere from here... doesn't have to be the method that the guide suggests.

Thank you all for your suggestions! I really appreciate the help. I'll post back how dop-mii turns out.

You are missing the point... For some reason your wii isn't reading a file on your sd card, and this WILL cause problems later... Not to mention you will want to have IOS58 in the future...

-Erik

Ok then, I'll do Burritoboy's method first. Then I'll try Dop-mii.

EDIT: Ok, when trying to access the WAD manager (using Erik's method) I get "Error mounting SD" and then I can't access the manager. So I think I'm going to try Dop-mii now... and besides, won't Dop-mii install IOS58 for me when I choose to download with wifi?

UGH, I'm sick of this. I like my old Wii better. Modded Wiis are overrated... any way to turn my Wii back into a Virgin so I can update freely and feel good about myself? I know I can uninstall HBC via Bootmii...

What do you mean overrated? You haven't even modded your Wii correctly yet and are passing judgement on how bad a modded Wii is. You can do so much with a properly modded Wii. It is not that hard if you follow the instructions/guides correctly. There are hundreds and hundreds of other people that have done this with no problems at all.

... I'm going to try to Install & Patch IOS36 with a different SD. I'll post back if it works.

Once you get a backup loader running, you will change your mind (free vc and wii games).
