Homebrew Can't get custom VC banners to work

I've tried 4 or 5 times with several different tutorials but it always ends up with the Drunken Coders banner. I don't quite know where it's going wrong so there's not a lot of information I can give though I can say the game is working fine. Are there any common errors I could be making? And what's the most up to date method for making custom banners?
