So i was cleaning my PC and it seems i did something that i shouldn't have done and now i can't boot into Windows, its stuck on the boot menu. What happens is the loading screen comes after which the monitor flashes and it looks like it changes to a lower resolution or something because the loading icon looks slower in frames and lower in quality. I've tried to boot into safe mode but it seems like MS was stupid enough to DISABLE F8 booting. Googled and sae that i could get into the recovery menu if i restarted the pc couple of times but nope same loading screen over again. Anybody know if i can do anything to fix it without clean installing my OS?

How were you cleaning your pc? Were you just randomly deleting files? Using a program?

Advanced System Care and Driver Booster. One or another made the issue.

Ah yes, that may have been your issue, those types of programs can sometimes cause more problems than they help.

Do you have another PC available to you? If so you can download the windows 10 ISO, burn it to a flash drive and try to repair the instalation.

I agree it's stupid you have to boot Windows, to get to safe mode, considering the only times I have ever needed sage mode are when the PC won't boot. But you can create a, recovery USB stick from within Windows to get to safe mode. That won't help you now, but for the future.

Seems like with W10 its the only option which sucks.
And.... it seems i got somehow onto my PC after restarting for about 20 times. Not sure if its gonna happen again but i guess its fixed(?).

Those programs usually work by deleting temp files, erroneous registery entries and the like. Sometimes they can delete stuff that is important.

You may have been lucky and the issue repaired itself but I would probably do a scan just in case, and now that you are in create a recovery drive now.

    F8 / Shift+F8 does work

it only doesnt work if you are using UEFI bios or SSD, this is because windows boots too fast

Just yesterday i heard the term UEFI Bios which i find weird now when you said that if its disabled the F8 would work.

Durante says the same that if UEFI is disabled that GeDoSaTo would work:

an GeDoSaTo works for me and F8 not.
I haven't played around BIOS so idk if UEFI Bios is disabled or enabled.

That's useful to know, unfortunately I have a SSD so it doesn't work for me.

And yes, the recovery drive is what you need. Its essentially a boot disk but it will also get you in to safe mode as well.

Can confirm GeDoSaTo works here on windows 10 with UEFI.

You can enable UEFI without secure boot

You can also check if its enabled via

Press the [IMG] + R keys to open the Run dialog, type msinfo32, and press Enter.

Should be Secure boot in list stating enabled or disabled

Glad you got it sorted, sounded like it could have been a windows classic boot problem (bcd time yay).

Anyhow, if you're gonna use a 'system cleaner' use ccleaner, it's what I give to people who really shouldn't be poking around with things, it's hard to go wrong with it. And it's free.

    Edit: btw, just in case...
    bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy
punch that into an elevated command prompt (admin prompt), that'll enable the F8 booting we all know and love, I recommend everyone that reads this post does it, it's an absolutely hair saver.
