yep I don't know if Cameron leaved the show or something similar. Remember that time the seasons where 20 or more episodes, not 6 or 4 as today.
Yeah, I just did some quick internet research(tm). The consensus is all over the place. Some people think season one was awful and boring, others think it was top-tier entertainment. Everyone seems to agree that season two was a mess.
Firefly is one of those shows I sound like a raving lunatic to my friends. Im pointing to a scribbled white board screaming why, even though its only one season and cancelled, its still worth watching.
Damn you had me interested in 1899! My girlfriend and I loved Dark! Might give it a watch only to cry innevitably knowing its unfinishedI'm pretty old so I could go on for days about cancelled shows from the 70's right through to now. But just sticking to recent times, two shows that were cancelled after only one season that really deserved to keep going:
1) Ascension - alternate history / sci-fi 2014 series on SyFy about a group of people who believe they're ~30 years into a multi-generational starship journey to a distant star, but in reality they're part of a secret underground experiment very much still on Earth, and being monitored the whole time.
2) 1899 - Netflix show from 2022 made by the same people who made "Dark." Set on a German ocean liner in (you guessed it) 1899, the crew and passengers deal with a bunch of spooky supernatural shit, and then at the end of the last episode you find out they're actually living all this while in suspended animation on a spaceship. What happens next??? We'll never know.
I do remember The Event! The first scene was Jason Ritter's character freaking out on a plane, if I remember correctly. I remember the cliffhanger, but I have to be honest, the show didn't resonate with me. I watched it through to the end of the season, but I didn't feel particularly strongly about it.
