Since I homebrew'd my Wii (vWii) and 3DS, I thought I might as well homebrew the Wii U (complete the homebrew trilogy haha). But from what I read the NAND is huge, and I can't fit that all on my SD Card, even if it was completely empty. Is it possible to dump the NAND in chunks?

Bonus question: how safe is Wii U Homebrew? Wii and 3DS are pretty safe, as long as you follow up the rules its easy and safe to homebrew! Is that the case with Wii U homebrew as well?

No, if you want a redNAND dump, you must find an SD Card that is 16GB or larger (for white 8GB consoles) or 64 GB or larger (black 32GB consoles).

Yes, just read the instructions carefully and you should be fine.

Thank you! I see...
Whats the difference between a redNAND dump and a...not (?) redNAND dump? Sorry if this is a stupid question

redNAND and "NAND dump" usually mean the same thing, at least for the Wii U - they both refer to the process of formatting your SD card, copying your console's NAND contents onto it and (optionally) booting your console using your redNAND instead of the built-in sysNAND.

i dump everything but the MLC it was +/- 1gb. seeprom and otp.bin(cbhc unbricking) are the most imported ones.check the noob guide https://gbatemp.net/threads/guide-community-noob-guide-to-wii-u-hacking.451297/ for more details

not mutch, like i said mlc takes a lot of time,al the rest are around 1gb in total.otp.bin and seeprom are the most imported ones for unbricking.but the chance of bricking is almost zero if you don't do crazy stuff.the only chance of bricking is if you install cbhc and delete the haxchi based game or if you ftp in your wiiu and delete something. i use a haxchi only setup so i have 0%change of bricking.if you setup haxchi to boot to cfw it's only 1 click to have the same result

mlc contains wii u system menu apps,saves ,.. but i don't think it's useful.
SLC - Includes system configuration such as system.xml, sysmenu.xml and other critical parts of the Wii U (such as boot1)

SLCMTTP - vWii IOS'es, Save files and vWii stuff is stored there. Needed in-case if you screw up vWii to that state that even FTPiiU will not help.
