Im wondering if windows can be run thru usb, and i know if can be installed from a usb source. If it can will it be detected as a separate hard drive?

"Windows To Go" (artificially disabled, like other things, in the inferior editions) is exactly that: an official, modified installation intended for removable drives potentially getting moved between different computers

Rufus can set one up easily (if you don't already have a compatible version installed in the regular way and running), but I never tried it

Part of the changes including disabling internal HDD support, it's supposed to be Microsoft's spiritual competition to those Linux distros intended for privacy when using another computer

if your making a bootdisk (just to install) try rufus. if you want windows TO go, try YUMI as they are free

Only certain flash drives will work with Windows To Go, I tried getting my other flash drives to work, but ultimately they didn't. especially with a mac.
