I want to transfer my pokemon from gens 3-6, but I don't have Pokebank. I know PKSM can do that, but I've heard of the bans in PGL. Will trying to transfer with PKHEX-PKSM cause me a ban?

BTW, is there any way to transfer gen 1 VC games' pokemon too with some program?

You won't get banned if you transfer your Pokémon. The only real reason people get banned is if they make there own Pokémon, not transferring them

1. use JK save manager to export R\B\Y Save.
2. export moon/sun save
3. use pkhex to open your moon save.
4. open pkhex a second time and load your R\B\Y save
5. Drag and drop your pokemon from Gen 1 to Gen 7.
6. save main
7. import save using Jk Save manager.
8. done

It's important to note to right meow Gen1->Gen7 is WIP. Even though it works now, the developers are still polishing the transfer method.

2 questions about this:
1) Wasn't there a save corruption glitch with regular PKHEX?
2) What file do I open with PKHEX for gen 1?

1.) I don't know what you are talking about. Pkhex has worked fine for me and haven't found any reading on such corruption as long as you are making educated edits you should be fine.
2) you open the save which is a sav.dat for gen I and a main for Gen VII

always download pkhex from the official source

Thanks! (I was referring to a save corruption glitch I've seen on youtube, which said that PKHEX was the cause, though verlisify was the one who made one of those videos, so yeah)

I imported a save with jksm and haven't gotten banned.

I have used both PKhex and PKSM and game synced my game and I'm yet to be banned. As long as you are making educated edits you should be fine. If you are changing gender/trainer name/unobtainable items/illegal moves/cheating online/changing currency(questionable) you MIGHT get banned.

Anyways if you want Gen I support use Pkhex
PKSM only supports Gen IV-V cartridges, and both digital/physical versions of GenVI/GenVII.
I use PKSM for a small edits like move changes, pokeball change etc. you can do more with it and it gets better every release.

Again if you are making educated edits(meaning as long as it is possible to obtain within the boundaries of the game) you are less likely to be ban.

How you use any tool is really up to you but just know that by using any tool to make changes to game comes with the possibility to get ban sooner or later. Don't blame the developers.

There was, in one of the first PKHex versions that supported sun/moon, but it was fixed a long time ago.
