I have B9S and Luma3DS installed onto my 3DS and am running SysNAND 9.2.0-20E on a o3DS.
I want to know if it's safe to update to the most recent system update without losing my CFW / Homebrew Launcher access. (Soundhax w/ the .CIA version).
I need to update to play games that require FW 9.6+ to play. (Freeshop errors, CIAngel errors etc.)

I have a SysNAND backup available and will probably make a second one since I've installed new things to my 3DS.
Is it safe to update? And if I do end up updating [and messing up the system] will the NAND backup take me back to 9.2 or will I have to downgrade? (No idea if downgrading still works).

The trusty old Google hasn't given me an exact answer, and right now I'm thinking of just switching back to the use of an EmuNAND. (If it still works).

A sysnand backup made on 9.2 will allow you to revert back to that. The newest firmware does patch soundhax so your gonna want to look into alternate hbl methods. You will be told alot that emunands nowadays are not worth it to use. Also CFW will not be lost with updates, or even formats.

Thanks for the speedy answer.

I have Ocarina of Time (an old exploit) wondering if that will work for a quick way to boot back into Homebrew?

Alright. That's reassuring.

I have a problem booting .CIA downloaded games where I launch them and it hangs on the 'Nintendo 3DS' loading screen. Is this fixed if I upgrade my system?

I'll probably have to re-add the files and others if I'm going back to the OOT hacks, since I stopped using it ages ago when I got menuhax and RXTools.

Can I get some assistance with installing OOT3DHax?

When I attempt to run the Sploit Installer using the Homebrew Launcher (with OOT inserted) I get an error message saying that the title is not supported or something like that. Then it takes me out of the launcher.
I can't do the Powersaves method or flashcard method because I've lost my Codejunkies username and it wont let me reset from email, and I don't own a working flashcard to install the save file.

Is there any way to get the Sploit Installer to work? I'm going crazy here... There are no guides to fix it on google.

You have luma, WTH are you trying to do exactly?
Do you have b9s 1.0 or 1.2? If it's 1.0 upgrade to 1.2 and upgrade luma to the latest, plus update you FW to 11.5 and be done with it

You can't use OOTHaX on B9S.
The sploit installer only works on systems below 11.2 (and if you're on B9S HomeBrew MUST be run from the CIA) Download the newest version of the installer, and replace your boot.3dsx for the program, then load HomeBrew through Rosalina and try the installer again.

Alright.

I've already fixed all my problems anyway.
OOT Installer works on 11.5 firmware, so if you think it only works on 11.2 and below go test it yourself with the most recent otherapp payload. And the Homebrew was being run through the CIA, not through a exploit.

I updated to the recent version, used a boot.firm of Luma 7.x that works with B9S 1.2 and then was able to use OOT3DHax and even stop ARM11 errors when using Luma 8.x.

Rosalina has too many bugs and I'd rather not be hit with a ARM11 exception occured error when attempting to launch Pokemon Moon.

Thanks for the help though.
