no you can not, because the motion plus is needed to use the software, and some movements will not happen if you don't have motion plus.

Even if you use a save file, you won't be able to. Because the game will detect if you're not using Wii Motion Plus.

The Switch does indeed not need a Wii Motion Plus attachment (how would you even?), and in this version the motion controls are optional. The joycon have gyro built in (as do later Wiimotes, which might solve OP's problem if they don't want the bulky attachment rather than not wanting / being able to buy hardware).
