Hacking Question Can I enter rcm mode on the left side

Nope. The right side JoyCon is also the utility JoyCon. When the specific pins are connected it sends a special version of the HOME Button signal (as far as I know) which is RCM's activator. If the pins aren't on the right side, you cannot.

You can buy the rail unit from places like amazon etc if you're capable of repairing the device itself. I had to do mine a few months back when my joycons would randomly disconnect alot while playing in handheld

No, but there are other ways to enter rcm. If you turn the console on with the nand unplugged then it will go in to rcm mode. If you're going to do that though you may as well just repair the joycon rail as others have suggested.

The right side has the hidden home button on pin 10. Without that home button, you cannot enter RCM.
