Hello, I'm sort of a complete noob to all of this. I'm semi-tech savvy so not *all* things go over my head, but when it comes to anything like this it's straight over.
Long story short I'm wanting to access some quests on DQ 9 that are no longer available unless you either action replay it in or use a save editor. The action replay I bought was faulty and currently being returned so now I'm looking at doing it through the DSTWO plus or any other Flashcart. However I'm on System Version 10.3
I have no desire to use my flash cart for 3DS games, however I only have a 3DS to play on.
To clarify a bit I've read you can use some flash carts (DSTWO and r4 come to mind on what I've read the last few days. ) to back up save files or something to that effect so I could get my .sav file and use it with a save editor so I could edit in the quests/NPCs that are no longer available since it was online only. I've only found the save editor, now just a matter of finding a way to get the .sav file.
I've read conflicting information on all of this now. I've read that DSTWO plus will not work unless you're on something like firmware 4.2-9.2 while I'm on 10.3. I've then read there's something called "DS Mode" (Which seems to be on more than just DSTWO) where only regular DS games are accessible and that Will work on 10.3. DQ 9 is a DS game, not 3DS so it sounds like it *should* work. I don't want to waste $40-$50 on something only to find out my firmware version is too high for it to be compatible though. I've also heard of Sky3DS, while significantly more expensive, would work. However it's only compatible with 3DS games, not DS, so it's not an option.
Can someone please explain to me if it will work for what I'm hoping to do with it? Explain like I'm a complete idiot if it helps, I won't be offended, I really just want to figure this out. It's been a frustrating last few days trying to get a way to do this and it seems like a flashcart is my only option left.
