Can a GAMESTAR PS2 Network Adapter / HDD interface have an etherne port soldered onto it, or are there any projects undertaking such a premise likely?

Apologies if that seems a dumb inquiry but I see talk of a lot of kits to make an official adapter into a sata compliant version but I was merely speculating if the opposite could be done to the GAMESTAR units, with another daughter chip or socket run into the bus line or a modified replica PCB that emulates a bespoke nexus between socket, chip and hard drive.

Only the oem one have the network adapter.
