Thanks for the feedback everyone. Things are getting better, pretty soon there'll be a beta version which I'll send out to you guys.
Can anyone tell me what channel ID the Mario Kart Wii channel uses?
I'm thinking of auto-generating 4 letter channel IDs and the channel name based on the name of the game and the first 4 letters of the game's disc ID (without the leading R), so that you could create multiple channel files at once, in batch mode without specifying details for each.

P.S. Don't worry, this will work with 64 bit as well, I assumed all my testers were using 32-bit OSes, so I only sent 32-bit, I'll send the beta in 64-bit to you when it's ready BIG MOE

alright , man I cann't deal with 32bit they bite hahahaha , thanks in advance buddy

My advice? Keep the R. or simply replace it with a letter not used for anyother channels...like U for example. (for USB Loader)

Just make the ID generated the same ID as the save, which would be the first four letters/numbers of the game ID>

Eg. Baoque's ID is RM6EEB, so the channel would be RM6E. or UM6E if you replace the R. (there are reasons to replace it, see below in Mario Kart Channel info.)

Each letter in the Channel ID has a meaning.
The first is what kind of channel it is,
2 and 3rd mean nothing,
4th is region.
This applies to Disc IDs as well. all NTSC games always have E as their 4th letter, unless all regions have the same version.
Same applies to PAL having P for their fourth letter, J for japan, etc etc.

QUOTE"The ID must be XXXX, being each X a CAPITAL LETTER (MAYUSCULAS).
Those letters mean:

X1: System.
F for NES/Famicom
J for SNES/Super Famicom
N for Nintendo 64
E for Neo Geo
L for Master System
M for Mega Drive/Genesis
P for PC Engine/Turbografx (CD)
C for Commodore 64

X2 and X3 are of your free choice, using CAPITAL LETTERS and/or NUMBERS.
Just make sure that you don't have any other wad installed with the same ID.

X4: Region.
A - All regions. System channels like the Mii channel use it.
D - German-speaking regions. Only if separate versions exist, e.g. Zelda: A Link to the Past
E - USA and other NTSC regions except Japan
F - French-speaking regions. Only if separate versions exist, e.g. Zelda: A Link to the Past.
J - Japan
K - Korea
L - Japanese Import to Europe, Australia and other PAL regions
M - American Import to Europe, Australia and other PAL regions
N - Japanese Import to USA and other NTSC regions
P - Europe, Australia and other PAL regions
Q - Korea with Japanese language.
T - Korea with English language.
S - Spanish Speaking Countries
I - Italian Speaking Countries

So don't omit the R, doing so might actually cause installation over other channels the user has installed. My advice is simply replace it with another letter not in use by other channels such as U, for USB Loader. That way the Mario Kart Wii channel and Wii Fit Channel can stay intact and its chances of replacing existing homebrew/Nintendo channels is slim.

Mario kart Wii Channel info

RMCE for USA and other NTSC regions except Japan. It simply uses the first 4 digits of the mario kart discs ID. Wii Fit does this as well.

for other countries, just replace the last letter with whichever applies. (example, Europe would be RMCP)

K, thanks Troy.
I'll be sending out a beta version to the volunteers in a few hours, when I do, I'll posting in this thread again to give you a heads up.
Thanks for your help.

Beta test emails going out.
Things are pretty much set unless something goes drastically wrong. I've tested Channel creation on Windows XP, Vista and 7 (and although Vista and 7 require Run as Adminisitrator for channel creation to work) everything seems ok. I haven't tested actually using the banner files, although a few of the testers reported working channels.
If all goes well with this beta test, the final release will be out as soon as translation is done.
For those who'd like to know, I've also added in the ability to cancel long operations as well saving different Wii disc partitions (similar to Waninkoko's change in USBLoader 1.5).

Forgot to mention, let me know if you didn't get the beta test email and you'd volunteered.

Note regarding how the IDs are generated for batch Channel Creation (if you select multiple games and click Create Channels):
The first letter of the game's 6 character ID is replaced with W (for WBFS), the second, third and fourth letters are copid directly from the game's channel ID.
So for example Star Wars: Force Unleashed (RSTE64) would become (WSTE), SSB Brawl would be (WSBE). This may need to change for the final release... it seems all to easy to create similar IDs for different games... I'll be looking into this further...

Just to let you know, everything worked beautifully. No errors, channel worked perfect. No problems, smooth as butter.

But, I do have one thing you may want to use. Its an updated dol that uses the code from 1.5, made by WiiCrazy, which allows playing of a few games that didn't work on 1.1 (excite Truck for one.)

I attached the dol file for you.

hmm, also, your wad is PAL region? (I used WAD_ID to check it)
Did you want a region free version? I already changed the region of the wad you gave me, I'll include it in the zip I'm sending.

Hmm, hotmail is having issues, I may have to use my gmail account.

Its the exact same address, except its "@gmail.com" at the end instead.

Excellent, thanks. The nice thing about this is I (or others) can keep adding other loader dol files just by dropping it in a folder and putting an xml file next to it. I'll be explaining how to do that in the final release. (I may decide to include a way of automatically creating the XML file from inside the program, but I'm not sure yet.)

I should probably add that I'm pretty surprised and excited that it's working well

Of course the Alpha test helped a lot, but I wasn't 100% sure if this was gonna work right off the bat.
Btw, any comments on usability from any of the testers are important too. Let me know if somethings too difficult or doesn't make sense (aside from the text which is more or less meaningless at this point

)

Also, in your feedback, please mention what games you tried, your Windows version and your console region. Thanks!

Nah, its impossible to. Every game has a different ID, no 2 games will ever have the same ID. Even the same game for different regions will have that 4th letter different.

You have it perfect just the way it is.

also, I noticed you just posted. I don;t think you caught the edit of my last post.

and will do about more details on it. Just look for my gmail address instead.

Yup, got your email from your gmail

lol. Actually I sent you a reply... looks like email is slower than forum posts atm, hehe.

sent a detailed report.

I do suggest using the wad i edited.

(not having it region free might cause problems for some people, only reason it worked for me was because I have preloader and a hack for regionfree channels)

EDIT: Oh, i did just notice it seems to always name the channel in all capital letters, even if there are lowercase in the name. I also replied to your last email, lol.

I wouldn't replace the first letter with W. WiiWare games ID's start with that. I'd go with X or U (USB Loader).

I also have a question about the game ID's. If you make the channel's ID different (ex. from RMCE to XMCE), would it then create a different savefile for it, or does it only look at the "MC" and use the same savefile? That was never really clear to me.

No, the save ID would stay the same. It is simply the WAD ID, not the game itself.
