Gaming C.O.P The Recuit E3 TRAILER

At the first glance of the trailer, I thought it was GTA: Japantown War or something.

Took a bit longer for me to realize that is COP from Ubisoft.

Looks great and pretty awesome though.

It looks like its the same quality as a ps1 game and it seems to look quite playable to.

Rockstar said many times that they had to wait for the PS2's technology to bring sandbox crime games into 3D. And really, when you compare the power of a PSX game and a PS2 game, you can see why.

The PSP can handle a 3D GTA ever so slightly because of its power, but I just don't see a company like Ubi Soft being able to do what even Rockstar couldn't.

I think what we will end up with is a sloppy, GTA-like game that doesn't meet up to expectations, or a game where you spend 90% of the time in the car and 10% shooting like Wheelman.

I'll be honest it looks bad. But seems like it plays OK. Might give it a try.
Agreeing with quoted sir here.
Driving on the video reminded me of the horrid driving physics of the Driver games on GBA. If they are able to get around that mode 7 style driving I am sold.

I loved Chinatown Wars, updated version of GTA 1&2 what there is not to love.

To me, game looks awful....I'm glad that Rockstar didn't go for this approach with GTA....I don't think I'll be even trying out this game...

But who knows, maybe gameplay rocks!

QFT

Although, I do think it will meet my own personal expectations, which are fairly low. Again, I think it will be a diversion worth checking out, but this isn't going to offer the console-style, GTA experience people may be hoping for on DS. The art style alone suggests a cheesy (Imagine-esque, if you will) approach to the genre, and they're not going to be able to offer a fraction of the liveliness of Chinatown Wars from that perspective. It will probably prove most interesting as a sort of demo for folks who like to tinker on DS. It's not even really one of those "I could be wrong" situations because, again, it's Ubisoft we're talking about here, and well, they seem to adore putting mediocrity on DS; they revel in the notion.

I will say this, though -- it will likely be more profitable than CW. They'll spend way, way, way less on making it, get a teen rating, and Walmart moms will be more apt to purchase it for their kids. So, yeah, Ubi is smart in that respect.

I think they made a genius approach on the name alone: Parents will read it as Cop - The Recruit and it'll sell to them thinking they are buying a wholesome police officer simulator for Junior to play and grow with.

As someone who owns all the PSP GTAs (I even own Vice City Stories twice, on PSP and PS2), there's a level of emptiness to the world at large. It's not as lively or as organic as the PS2 or current gen GTAs/Saint's Row. It felt like you were given a great playground that you've played around in already, but there's only a handful of NPCs on it with 6 or 7 variations of cars currently being driven. If those games on a system with more power feel like that, I can only cringe while imaging how lonely COP's streets will look.

LOL, what if its rated M?

I actually don't really care if this sells well. I want a sequel or a new ds version of GTA. This one just seems to be trying to emulate the GTA experience, which not many have accomplished. This may turn out good an all. But hey, maybe its just a new franchise from the Imagine series

M ratings don't mean a thing to idiot parents. I have personally seen parents buy Mature rated games for sub-9 year olds based solely on the boxart or title. Conker is a prime example of this.

That being said, looks more like a console GTA than GTA Chinatown Wars did. GTA DS was loved and rated highly, but it was an overhead view, making it have a classic vibe. This one is fully 3D and really looks like GTA. But that means nothing since there are a lot of GTA clones that don't do GTA justice. I'll keep an eye on this game, but take it with a grain of salt.

LOL I wonder how the game will make the child turn out. "Mommy! I want to burn you with this cool flamethrower!"

The game seems to be pretty plain though. It seems to have plenty of stylus action.

But GTA clones don't always succeed, so people, don't get your hopes too high. Being hyped is enough.
