Another question,

I want to use a 128GB SD card with my Wii U but only have a 64GB at hand. Will have to wait a few days to get the 128GB card.

Can I perform the hack and then copy all contents from the 64GB card to the 128GB? Will I have any issues doing this?

You are better off buying a game to setup Haxchi and load games off from a HDD.

can you have a look at my previous post regarding issues with buying a game.

Whats the issue with loading games from the SD card?
Hello,

Did you disable DNS in the internet connection of your Wii U ?? , to be able to connect ??

the problem with SD cards ==> little space and extremely expensive .

external hard drive ==> inexpensive and lots of space (GO)

I didn’t disable the DNS. I can connect to the internet and to the eshop but cannot pay by bank card.

If that’s the only problem with SD cards, I’d rather use them as 128GB card costs around 14 bucks.

Why don't you buy a $10 nintendo eshop card and load it?

I just thought I could spend the exact amount the game costs using a bank card.

The account I created on the Wii U (Network ID), is it different from what I need to log in on the Nintendo website?

EDIT - Ignore this, just found that I have to create a nintendo account using my network ID

Yes you can copy all the content. Also the biggest reason for why not to use SD card with loadiine is the insanely long loading times and I believe some issues with some games. If you can live with that then it's fine.

I’ve been advised not to use Loadiine with FW 5.5.4

I’ve done a bit of reading and it looks to me like I have to use WiiU USB helper to install games on to my SD card and play the games off it.

have I got this right?

Yep, and as in its name WiiU "USB" helper helps you install games you'll play by using the USB port of your Wii U. The way to do this is by using a usb sd adapter.

What about the SD card in the slot of the console? You can’t play off that?

If not, does that one need to have a large capacity?

sorry for the noob questions.

Loadiine is what you use to play games off the SD card slot. Games installed with wii u usb helper will be played through the usb port. Do you mean if your sd card that goes into the sd usb adapter needs to have a large capacity? It needs enough space for your games and that's it. Some games are 30GB like maybe Watch_Dogs or COD.

Since I take it you only have 1 SD card, you'll have to use wii u usb helper and the installation through wifi. I have never done this myself but it should be straight forward and explained in wii u usb helper. I can't really help you with that part.

Thanks, appreciate the help. Whats the issue with Loadiine and FW 5.5.4?

I meant, if I use the USB method, does the card in the console need to be of large capacity? Not the card in the USB adapter

OK, so you're going for 2 SD cards. The one in the console should be big enough to carry the game you want to install on your USB sd card, so let's say 32GBs are enough.

I have no idea what the issue with loadiine is since I stopped using it years ago.

Ah, so I install the game from one SD card to another (SD in USB adapter).

Thanks for clearing that up.

I'm guessing I delete the game off the SD card in the console after the game has installed on the second SD card?

theres a couple of very good guides on youtube, look them up as theyre a lot clearer than the information here.

I did mine a few months back without a hitch, got a 1tb desktop style HDD, Y splitter and a 64gig SD card. In my case the SD card was needed to transfer games from my PC (via USB helper) to my WiiU, so I needed to load up the card on the PC, then put it in the WiiU, copy em off and repeat.
Anyway, I'd really encourage you to check that video, you seem to have a lot of the same questions I did when I was doing it and it was all covered.

Can you recommend the video. I'm watching a lot of videos but they're only on specific parts of the process.
